I have one of those and I was always impressed by the big slivers of lead on the brass screen. A few of those sessions and I decided 1400 fps with cast lead isn't a good idea. I never tried gas checks.

Back when stuff was plentiful I did not shoot any 38 brass in my 357 and just loaded the 158 gr SWC lead to around 900 to 1000 fps. If I wanted anything any milder I would go to my S&W 22 revolver. Think it is a model 17 but would have to look to be sure. A 22 built on a 38 size frame and good adjustable sights with a 6 inch barrel. At the gun club if not too many around I would walk over to the skeet range and find some unbroken skeet and set them up at the 50 yard berm. I could usually hit them about 2 out of every 6 rounds standing off hand with that 22. That was about 30 years ago and I did not need glasses, now I can not see the sights that well with glasses.
Always wanted to shoot bambi with a pistol but opportunities to hunt with a pistol around here were limited and I only got out twice with no success.
I live in a town with a granet quarry near by. There was a man that used much of the granet to build his house and some things around it while the owner was away. The owner found out about it and made him pay for the granet.
There are seveal nice looking granet homes in the area. Mother worked at one for a while as a book keeper. The owner gave her enough stones about a foot square and 5 feet long to make the front and back steps to a house they bought.
I saw what looked like a chain on some towers that were about 30 feet tall tha went out about 500 feet and then back. I often wondeed what that was. Got a chance to tour the quarry and found out that was sort of a big band saw blade. It did not have teeth on it, but used some powder or small stone like stuff it picked up in the machine to do the actual cutting of the stone.
He had to bring in big equipment to break up the rock. I recall my first house when I picked out the house the builder had a granite clause in it that I would have to pay more or find another lot if they had to dig through rock.
I don't have to dig far around the property to hit rock. Was a headache to put in a new mailbox post a couple of years ago.
This sounds like Flin Flon Manitoba, the city built on rock! pdk
During the go go 00s the amount of material that went in the dumpster was phenomenal. The order of the day was go fast, they didn't track wasted material. It was better to have too much and not slow down the crews so they always ordered extra. I had collected enough block to build a 10x 16 shed (that the HOA canceled) by the time we put my addition on and I had enough for that and the block shed I built. I still gave a bunch away. I have no doubt the guy who did my pool finish was able to get a few extra bags from every job he did and doing 2 a day, it wouldn't take long to collect enough to do a pool. It was always amazing what I found in the dumpster but I did get the name "Fred Sanford". One of my favorites was 2x12 rough sawn western red cedar. There was always some left over from every house and I used it for all sorts of stuff. Occasionally I would find whole 16 foot sticks in the dumpster. I got this after they sweped up behind the electricians. It seems, if it fell on the floor, they just got another one and left it lay.
The last baseball game I went to was free too. They were giving away Ft Myers Miracle tickets if you bought a drink at 7/11. They did clip me for parking, a hot dog and a few beers so they made some money on the deal. I don't know who won because we left early.
My go to .22rf is my target model Woodsman. It is capable of better shooting than I have. I was doing the rapid fire thing in those days. Timed fire at 5 targets. I was getting down in the 3-4 second range hitting beer cans at 7 yards. That is a great pointing gun.
The first neighborhood my wife built in was about 6" of sand on a layer of coral rock. They did a lot of blasting to break it up and had plenty of complaints. You couldn't even put in a post for a permit board so I made about 40 of these.
We're not that bad but it is spotty. Builder apparently had no problem with my foundation and septic system.
Sporting events arent really a measure of your social class. The upper class in the UK are into rugby football, cricket, horse racing etc. Even the queen is into horse racing.

That was a big difference in the house my dad had built around 1975. All the wood scraps would fit in the bed of a small pickup truck.
I do remember when I was around 10 or so dad had a room built on to an old house and the tin roof replaced with shingles. There was a pile of stacked up brick about 3 feet square and deep and also that many cinder blocks left over. Dad kept them.
If you aren't standing by the $2 window. Horse racing is a rich man's game.
There were typically three 30 yard dumpster drops per house. My wife got that down to two. HVAC guys were the worst filling a dumpster with duct board and flex duct. They weren't trying to use any left over material. Every run started with new material. (If they needed a 5' piece of flex, they cut it off a new roll instead of looking to see what was laying around). They cracked down on that.
The radon will kill you... That big radon scare didn't set too well with New Hampshire, aka the Granite State.
I've thought about it when the damn deer pulls down the bird feeder and tramples on it. I think it might be trying for the cat food stash too, but that might be the frigging skunk. Going to work yesterday there was a herd of turkeys in the road. I imagine they'll be next.
Life out here isn't quite what an urban dwelling antifa would be used to.
Know the feeling. Optics are very attractive in my dotage. I haven't got the hang of a red dot on a pistol yet though.
Rodeo, man. If you ain't into PRCA rodeo you're one of those damn eastern gender confused liberals. I don't really like rodeo myself. I hate to see poor dumb animals abused. I mean cowboys ain't too bright and they do it willingly, but still watching them get thrown into piles of horseshit and stepped on is too much.
Hurling isn't too bad. If there are rules I never figured out what they were.
