OT: BBC at Labour Conf

North Koreans probably regret starting the war. And it wasn't just the Yanks. Quite a few countries had troops there. Unsurprising since it was, and still is, a UN war.

It was a proxy war between China and the USA. Saying "the North Koreans started it" is very simplistic.

Same comment as for Tim.

Hardly "proxy" once the Chinese got involved in the fighting.

I don't imagine it's the intention for them to use it as a first strike weapon,

It's there as a threat that they will push the button if N Korea is invaded by overwhelming conventional forces.

Capitalism has been oh so successful here over the past 10 years or so, then? Which planet have you been on?

Capitalism is the worst way of running an economy, except for all the others

Indeed, economic growth, low unemployment, low inflation, stable interest rates, thriving private sector, and rising tax revenues.

I think DP counts the last 10 years as a failure because benefits haven't increased with inflation (not enough to get the young and healthy "can't be bothered" lot to try and get a job tough).

Lowest in the EU.

Inflation outpacing wages - workers worse off.

Not all good news.

You may want to check your figures.

Against the Euro? Excluding the drop in the last year or so due to Brexit, this is not the case.

Err, looked at government borrowing recently? Consumer debt?

Easy to have low unemployment with zero hours contracts etc, and making it very difficult to get any form of unemployment benefit.

The very worst thing is static or falling productivity. Something not seen for several generations.

And you....

You can't just ignore this.

We haven't had capitalism, but Socialism for the last 27 years. That's success?
