I should think the overhead power cables would melt under all the combined electrical load of charging all those EV's on board!
Even if its a diesel-electric, the onboard generators would not cope..... plus there is the irony of charging EV's from a diesel powered genny....
The electric co would prefer it if you had one:-)

Boring it may be, but a showstopper for many. And it's not something you can wish away, or engineer away. 10MW is 10MW, however you slice it. And 10 cars (not an unreasonable number as you'll see at any supermarket) all charging at the same rate gives you a 100MW. Enough for a small town.
Where we live, we could be described as ideal EV customers. No shortage of space for our own charging point, and 7 miles or so into town. We're fortunate compared with people who live on streets of terraced houses where they park outside the house on the street. Such folk are not ging to be best pleased once it sinks in that under most EV scenarios they will be unable to own a car.
We don't all live in Shitsville, England.

Supposing you had 100 EVs on board that you charged at 7kW for the overnight journey. That's 700kW.
A Eurostar class 374 train is 16MW. The new trains for the Piccadilly tube line (those I could find numbers for) are 2.5MW, and they will go at max

Well they won't, will they? Because people don't have 7 EVs and a swimming pool to boil. The average load would be much less. And the load can be balanced over the locality - you say you want your car charged by 8am, the charging system decides when and how fast it should take charge based on local supply and demand constraints.

It is perfectly obvious that NetZero is going to be a disaster, and the harder people try to achieve it, the bigger disaster it will be.
There isn't the grid, the generating capacity or the lithium to make electric cars and heat pumps work. And hydrogen is ludicrous as well.
I see our coal power stations are running today to help people charge their f****ng cars...
Its likely that a biggish home with 2 EVS on charge and electric heating is going to be not far off that figure.,
So:
Long range EV 80kWh. People don't drive 300-400 miles every day. Even if they have three teenage kids all with their own cars to go to work or college, those kids aren't all going to be driving hundreds of miles. The number of EVs doesn't matter - it's all about miles driven. So let's say
100-200 miles across the household, or about 40kWh.Average gas usage pa 15000kWh. Let's say all that gas is used in the winter, so over 90 days. That's 166kWh per day. If they have any sense they'll be running a heat pump rather than resistance heating - with a pessimistic COP of 2 (because it's freezing outside) that drops down to 84kWh.
So let's say 100-150 kWh. Which is a lot, but not going to blow the fuse.
