Brexit is a one way ticket. The damage is done. Get over it. There is zero, null, zilch chance in the world the UK would possibly be allowed to rejoin the EU in the next 50 years. Best case scenario would be a Canada-style kind of treaty, which is pretty much what we have now.

The thing is events happen, situations change. I wouldn't be so sure of what happens next year, but 50 years????
I'm pretty sure we will have some sort of AI revolution in the next few decades. When that happens, everything is going to change.
That is either a troll or a sign of deep insecurity.
Or a cucumber sandwich.
Both I think.
There wont be an European union to rejoin in 50 years These 19th century bureaucratic Empires simply dont work. Britain tried to reform the EU, and the EU wouldn't have it. It's ossified. Stuck in a third reich dream and completely compromised by corruption. Nations will start to simply ignore it. It has no army, It has no power except that ceded to it by its member states. If they simply give it the finger, it will collapse under its own incompetence and corruption. Then Europe can sit down and agree to co operate on what is worth cooperating on, and ignore what isn't. And Laplanders can rest easy and know they don't have to put their sled dog's poop in EU approved plastic bags.
I was going to say that there are some very odd people on Usenet. Then I thought some more. Are there any people on Usenet who are not pretty odd?
We are all normal, just not necessarily your version of normal ;-)

Question, like, for a friend. Do foreigners count as normal?
Frankly I think most of the human race are pretty weird.
We are normal, and we dig Bert Weedon..

Hear, Hear!
We are all foreigners to somebody.
This must be true because you've been saying this since 1991.
Well that just about sums up the Conservatives since 2010, greasing the pockets of big builders and London estate agents and 'Investment' banks feeding on dirty Russian money like hungry pigs at the trough. Those Builders and Estate agents then make big donations to the COnservative party.
All of which are Nato members anyway.
This mornings Farming Today at 05:45 AM on R4 had an item about the problems forced on Scottish seed potato growers by Brexit.
They have lost their EU market but have found a market in Egypt. Problem is, getting to the EU was easy by truck via Dover, but exporting to Egypt means they have to get their product aboard ship in December which means sorting out Bills of Lading etc and the ship does not wait if the weather is a bit tricky that year resulting in a late crop.
There are some utter nutters in Cornwall, Somerset, Wales, Yorkshire, Norfolk, ...
I think you are wrong, but we may have to agree to all, not just the deal we had before.

Indeed. Russia ? EU? - same principle same corruption. And Labour is no different either
Yes, a voluntary organisation that doesnt seek to rule its members or tell them what to do.
Apart from telling them that they must allocate a minimum percentage of GDP for defence.
