Its very far from clear that many of those who voted for brexit did so because they were racists. Objected to romanians and poles etc being free to move to the UK if they wanted to, sure, but thats not racist.

I recall in the lie-fest that led up to the referendum, people claiming that all our car builders (all two or three) would leave Britain and, in particular, that the EU would not sell cars to us. If that theory ever surfaced in Germany or France, I can imagine the phone calls to Juncker from BMW and Renault...

And as Britain is one of the largest car markets in Europe, the idea that the Japanese would abandon such a market was ludicrous. The last one left would, as the Americans say, make out like a bandit.

More likely they would just laugh.

You're right, mobile phones and the internet are the exceptions that prove the rule. These allow us to abuse ourselves destructively, which may be part of a turning point.

The reciprocal trade of seed potatoes is another bit of the Brexit negotiations that is still unresolved.

First, the Leave campaign told us how good it would be for Britain to leave the EU. How could they claim that without detailed plans in place as to how it would happen? Second, they should have been expecting to have to take over government if Leave won, so they should have been planning for that eventuality.

When we were promised that Britain would be better off outside the EU, it is the best measure of how successful Brexit has been.

The home market hasn't changed. There is insufficient demand from the home market for the Scottish Seed potato crop, which is why they went to the EU.

The ships do not wait if the weather in Scotland is bad !. They have very rigorous time slots.

What 'old' UK market ?. The UK market for seed potatoes is the same now as it was pre-Brexit. It is the EU export market that has gone.
