The reasons are irrelevant. The claim was that workers on the whole are better off, which they evidently are not.
Irrelevant to the specific claim made above.

Pathetic.
It was never that. Cameron did it to shut the leavers in his party up and was so out of touch with the electorate that he believed that the referendum would vote to remain.
Not circumstances so much as the opinion of those who bothered to vote.
No need with Cameron because he believed that the referendum would fail.
We'll never know.
If all the borrowing and printing stopped, the Treasury would soon be empty. There is still a deficit, possibly smaller than it was, but still increasing the debt.
No government has the nerve to reverse the deficit, to actually spend less than it raises in taxes. You can imagine the outcry. The debt will only be tamed by making it insignificant i.e. by massive inflation over a long period. We have to hope that the government knows the point where it will turn to hyperinflation and keep things just short of that. History isn't optimistic.
What slur? I have much more respect for market barrow boys than for politicians.

You need to stop getting so emotional about these things. The EU is simply applying the same rules to us as it does to any other non-member that doesn't have a suitable trading agreement with them.
Very true. I don't think anyone could get a definitive answer out of him. He kind-of turned fence-sitting into an art-form.
The secret is to know how to keep the two in balance. Unfortunately, a majority of voters were persuaded that boring and complicated economics didn't matter (remember Boris's "F*ck business"?).
The US pres is Head of Govt as well as Head of State.
All the Yanks did was copy the Britsh system as it was in 1776, but elect their King every four years. And by having their constitution as it is, their system has stayed frozen in time ever since. Very difficult to change it. Ours, by contrast, has evolved over the last 250 years.
Interesting. Of course, to export to the EU, or indeed to anywhere, your product has to follow the regs as set by the recipient. But this does not mean that all of that product that you make, such as for domestic consumption, or indeed for export to *other* markets, has to follow the same rules. F'rinstance, we sell cars to the US - so those cars must be LHD and have an MPH speedo. Cars sold to Oz will need to be RHD and have a KPH speedo. Cars sold into the EU will need to be LHD and have a KPH speedo. For the UK market its RHD and an MPH speedo.
Perhaps the problem with spuds is that the market is too small to have lots of regulatory varieties.
The Conservatives have been much hated for their post 2010 austerity measures, but they had got the deficit down from 30% at the end of the last Labour government to 1.2% in 2019 and were set to be able to start reducing debt over the coming years. That was then badly derailed by Covid and Ukraine.
Quite rightly so, like cutting nurse training number that would only cause issues a decade or so later. As exemplified by these articles:
The Labour years weren't so bad with PS borrowing. The issue is out of short sighted savings which seem to be more a Tory feature.
But clearly wasnt for most of those who bothered to vote.
More fool you. You clearly don't have a clue about what real democracy is about.
No one has ever been able to come up with one that isnt far worse.
Makes more sense to compare the cost of the Eire president.
And they still get plenty of tourists.
What was the question asked ?
Why should the UK need to do that given that there was never any such thing before brexit ?
Clearly just another example of the EU being as obstructionist as possible.
Nope, Cameron did the referendum to shut up the leavers in his govt.
Bullshit.
That's bullshit too. The pollys realise that they are more likely to stay in govt is quite a bit of what the govt spends is pair for with debt.
Eire proves that that is a lie.
Ditto.
Because they realised that it was never going to be possible to tell the Germans and French where to go because that isnt even possible given the way the EU operates.
That's a lie.
Irrelevant to what the majority who bothered to vote voted for.
Corse they aren't because that is the reason for the current result.
No one who mattered was ever actually stupid enough to claim that that was certain regardless of what else happened in the rest of the world.
Mindless flagrantly dishonest bullshit.
But they could increase taxation. They just choose not to.
It would be a f****ng sight more surprising if there wasnt given covid and the big spike in inflation due to the invasion of the Ukraine and the effect of the sanctions on Russia.
Australia did in fact do that for a few years relatively recently.
More bullshit. Australia didnt do it that way.
Thats bullshit too with the USA during the great depression and WW2
I am not emotional at all about any of this.
BULLSHIT.
Nope, what matters for most is real democracy.
Thats bullshit too. They actually decided that they cared a lot more about any EUian who wanted to move to the UK being free to do that than they did about the unpredictable economic consequences and Project Fear obvious lies.
Just because some fool remoaner journo claims something...
That doesnt explain why the trade with the EU was fine pre brexit.
