Oh dear, you're not keeping up. Mr Bignell hit the nail spot on. Why are you in denial of the simple fact there is currently no trade in seed potatoes between the UK and EU.

It depends on what you call "Britain". Workers are on the whole better off. Those who sit on their bums may well have lost out to increased labour rates charged by others.

I suggest you read the myriad of articles that highlight the reasons why people voted for Leave.

It would be equally interesting to understand why Remainers voted and how they were steered by Project Fear, Economic Meltdown and Armageddon.

Although, oddly enough, the EU imported around the same tonnage of UK seed potatoes every year as the EU exported to the UK.

That would explain all the strikes.

I have and referenced those reasons in this thread.

Project Fear is a term the Brexiteers invented to try to avoid having to answer the difficult questions the forecasts raised. They couldn't counter the economic arguments, so tried to trivialise them.

So, at the moment, is the EU really forbidding the export of seed potatoes to the UK - or is it the UK that is forbidding the import of seed potatoes from the EU. If either - why?

Well, I suppose that "it all makes work for the working man to do".

You're still clinging on to the threat of Economic Meltdown (an honest prediction, of course, and not a promise). It almost did happen, but was narrowly averted by some neat financial juggling by the Bank of England. If the BoE had ignored the problem, the UK economy would have been well and truly f***ed.

Hardly juggling. I don't feel the need to hang onto anything. Anyhow, the number on the bus was a prediction too, and spending is now far more than predicted, so win-win.

Are ye mad? Firstly, I neither know nor care what t e Leave campaign "told us". I paid no attention to it (or the other side), as I'd already realised a number of years earlier what a bad idea *this* EU is (and remains).

Second, I don't recall the Leave campaign having access to hordes of civil servants who had been told off to do detailed "what if" planning for the Leave campaign. Thirdly, what d'ye mean "take over the government"? By main force? Coup d'etat? That'd have worked well, eh?

Nul points, Mr Bignell. Must try harder.

Your ignorance of the issues is not relevant to whether or not the Leave campaign should have done their homework.

Also irrelevant to whether or not they should have done their homework.

Thirdly, what d'ye mean "take over the government"?

You didn't notice that Boris Johnson became PM and appointed all his cronies to the Cabinet?

By main force?

Bullshit.

Nothing like that in fact.

Bioe, an accurate statement of what the EU was costing the UK in cash terms.

But due to covid, not brexit.

Yep.

He isnt ignorant of the issues.

No homework needed on the issue of whether the EU is an unremittingly undemocratic operation that is very clearly into ever closer integration and telling member countrys what they must do.

But the UK voters were free to give him and his party the bums rush at the ballot box if they didnt like his policys or even his behaviour, unlike with the EU.

Can you provide evidence that the EU doesn't want a reciprocal trade in seed potatoes? I know you won't be able to. You spout so much BS.

Trivial when it is obvious that the UK would be free to do whatever it liked about EUians moving to the UK and stuff like govt subsidys and the stupid renewable mandate etc.

It was never going to be possible to do any detailed plans given that it was never going to be possible to know just how bloody minded the EU was going to be if the referendum got up and the UK left.

Even sillier.

Didnt need to given that the Torys were already the govt and had said very unambiguously that they would to what the majority who bothered to vote said that they wanted to see.

And regardless of whether you approve or not, the majority who bothered to vote said that the wanted the UK to leave the EU.

That was never a promise. The most it could ever be was a prediction.

BULLSHIT.
