There was. As an inherent part of our membership of the EU we agreed to comply with their standards on a large number of items, including seed potatoes.

So far as I can see, it is the UK government that is being obstructionist, as I can't see any good reason why they would not allow the import of seed potatoes from the EU.

I'm not suggesting they did. However, the poster I was replying to claimed that was the case now, when it evidently is not.
