OT: DPD latest

I don't use Win10. In fact, I don't use Windows, at least not while connected to the internet. I believe I could download an app to my PC, but have no intention of doing so.

But:

I found a contact number, and called that this morning. They will only explain delays in detail to the shipper, and the shipper, in the US, has already emailed DPD US. But DPD UK says it has no record of the enquiry, so they can only assure me that it will be sorted and I will not be out of pocket. A good thing that this item was not needed by a certain specific date. Now, if DPD US will only contact DPD UK and tell them to pull their bloody finger out, we might get somewhere. I have also sent the shipper the UK contact number, and suggested they call them directly.

This is unbelievable...

Yes, as they are the ones with the contract with them. It is time the law was changed on this though, as it is the recipient who actually wants the service of delivery, is paying for it (one way or another) and is waiting for the goods, so it makes no sense that they cannot query things themselves.

Agreed. If I had not told the shipper, they would not have known there was a problem. And DPD has my contact info, but never called or e-mailed to let me know anything about it.

By all means keep the contract and responsibility with the sender, but delivery companies need to be forced to acknowledge the intended recipients and correspond with them when requested. Trying to get a distant seller to correspond on your behalf is not always easy and sometimes impossible and who wants to cancel a late order and re-order at more cost, elsewhere, when the original might arrive the next day?

Never heard of them. Do you have to catch the parcels? Only other carrier I've had claiming to have left a card but not is UPS.

Why would an Ebay seller have my mobile number? If he had bothered to do so, he could have including my email address since he could get that from the Paypal details.

One is, one isn't. But then I hardly ever enter it. Going to be very different when it is extended to the N&S circular roads. I've a feeling that will cause a massive outcry, since it will effect lots and lots more.

If they've paid by Paypal, you have their email address.

In terms of used items bought from Ebay, etc, it is often poor packing which causes damage in transit. Got one item which was damaged, which was a tight fit to the box on only one axis. The other two, top and sides, had packing to stand an earthquake. You'd think it common sense to protect all corners, but apparently not.

DPD have told the shipper that they have lost the parcel. The shipper is refunding my payment, then I will re-order the goods. I hope that DPD refund the shipper.

A similar thing happens in the US, when somebody refuses to accept that New Mexico is part of the USA. It is not rare.

Then there's New England...

In this case, we have bought from the same seller multiple times, and packing has never been a problem. And this one is 'lost', rather than broken or damaged. But otherwise, I agree with you.

Never quite understood why so many mock Belgium. I'd guess they've never been there. Or perhaps it's the same as those who mock London, having seen about 0.0000000000000000000000000000000001% of it.

I just had the reverse.

After a corporate presentation with a spinning globe showing the locations of all our offices I was at lunch with a New Yorker who was surprised to find I did not mean Cambridge, Mass. Which was _not_ on the list of places - in fact NY was the only one anywhere near.
