Socialist clap-trap. The sewer was probably correctly installed at the time it was 'invested' but the ground beneath it has sunk slightly for some reason.

If we had spend just a fraction of the money that this country has pissed away on the NHS since 1947, on research and investment we could have had an economy like Germany and a 2 trillion euro surplus, also like Germany. Germany doesn't have an NHS, it faced up to the problems of health care 30 years ago and has a better system.

Sort of inversely proportional to the size of cars these days.

Be careful. Some marketeer will take that as a challenge.

Or nuclear weapons.

But unless we've done it that way for 30 years, it'll never happen. (Look upthread to see how fixed some peoples ideas are ....)

We had an amusing afternoon a couple of years ago, when my brother was over from the US. He joined us looking at new builds, and just asked where the garage was (his American is flawless :) ). Then he said he loved the British way of having unheated outdoor storage units.

I suspect it won't be long (if it hasn't happened already) that garages and drives become "surplus" to requirements, as housebuilder avariciousness reaches new heights, and the never-ceasing push away from private motoring closes tighter on us all.

I agree and whether or not they are disabled might not make any differnce t o how often they are called out, what might make a differnce is how often t hey are called and the cost of that call. A couple of hundred quid a month because of wet wipes might encourage some not to use them or to dipose of them in another way. But someone not paying for this service might not see a need to change what they throw down a toilet.

yes but people need telling and sometimes convincing. I;m wondering how I can convince our H&S that having an illuminated fire e xit sign pointing to an exit which has been sealed with a window might not be a good idea in a teaching lab, wish me luck this could take some time, still waiting for the fire doors to be properly sorted after 8 years !

It's like they've never heard of grenfell.

Ask wodeny he knows about shit, he was asked to study a thesis, but thought the person said faeces, he got confused and is now he's an expert on shit shoveling.

Do you have a fire axe? If so, at the next fire alarm evacuation test you should "open" the emergency exit. I threated to do this once at TVC and the locked (from the other side) exit miraculously became free within an hour.

Well if people are putting tree roots down the bog I'm not surprised there's problems.

No I'm not. I'm not a wilting rose. I'm enjoying this discussion immensely. We original thinkers, free of the constraints imposed on most by state and commercial propaganda, don't expect our views to be well received by the less enlightened masses. After all, it's painful to break out of brainwashing.

I certainly do think that British standards are far superior to those of some of the people who arrive on our shores.

Of course that's true, but if you remember my assertion was that the use of wet wipes does not block drains, any more than a whole lot of other stuff. So by putting words into my mouth and simultaneously moving the goalposts you've scored an own goal.
