OT: Wrong pets?

I doubt I would personally own slaves. It sounds like a royal pain in the ass. Even free butlers, maids, gardeners and so forth hanging around would drive me crazy in short order.

otoh I don't think I would much care if other people had slaves. I think that was the case for most people in the southern states. The interesting question is whether I would put on the uniform. If I lived in the south, I think I would but not necessarily to preserve slavery. In the north, I think not. I have one ancestor who did fight in the Union army although I have no idea what his motivation was.

Economically, I don't think slaves were required but they were part of the culture. I'll admit I don't really get the Southron thing. By that I don't mean it upsets me but there is a mystique and mythology that I'm not equipped to understand. I do think that pulling down statues, changing names, and banning flags is utter bullshit. If there is any statue that should be pulled down, it's Lincoln.

Facebook is a huge AI system thirsty for knowledge. It is fed by the knowledge, wants, needs and aspirations of people who use it. Big brother is watching you, using you, and being trained by you.

Have a nice day!

A COMPANY? Get to f*ck. I buy 2nd hand things from real people.

Just as true of Ebay, Amazon, Gumtree and Google and likely Aliexpress.

And irrelevant to whether facebook in fact is one of the best ways of moving second hand stuff for a price or for free.

It's not a sales medium. It's no better than sticking a poster on a lamppost. Ebay however is designed to sell.

You are wrong, as always.

Even sillier than you usually manage, and that's saying something.

So is the facebook marketplace, stupid.

I've explained already, it's not set up for selling. You could just as easily sell things on this newsgroup, but it would also be completely disorganised. On Ebay however, Paypal is linked easily to every sale, I have guarantees the seller won't rip me off, and it's very easy to find what I want in an organised way.

Nope, flaunted your pig ignorance, as always.

The Marketplace is. And has no fees at all for buyers or sellers so it leaves Ebay and Gumtree for dead for selling.

Nope, because there is no way to restrict your search to sellers or givers who are local to you.

Facebook Marketplace isnt. It separates the selling/giving from the other parts of facebook which are used for chatting and representing your company's operations etc.

Don't need Paypal when you show up that the seller/givers place and pay for it with cash or just take it away.

And no fees to facebook for sellers/givers/buyers/takers either.

If you are too stupid to do that when you pick the stuff up...

Even easier with the facebook marketplace and there are no fees at all.

And anyone is free to comment on whether the item is good value before its exchanged and to offer alternatives too.

And to make snide remarks about having the cat desexed when someone is offering free kittens too.

I'm sure it would do me good financially to have a free worker.

I also bought a record player for 50p (no test), the = stylus was missing. I obtained a stylus for =A35 on Ebay then sold it f= ully working for =A340.

Craigslist here is pretty desolate.

We have lots of charity shops for second hand stuff, but 95% of it is ju= st clothes.

Haven't you invented electric mowers yet? Gas powered ones are a pain in the ass to start.

I don;'t have a way for a cat to get under my floor unless I have some flooring up to fix something. Anywhere a cat could get to, I can get to.

One pull on the rope? Don't judge all mowers by that one you bought at a yard sale for 50p.

Corded electrics are a major pain in the ass. If I didn't chop the cord up it would be tangled around trees, poles, motorcycles, and everything else. A decent cordless is at least twice the cost. I don't have a postage stamp sized lawn so a cheap one would need recharging before I was finished.

The best of them arent and electric mowers are a pain in the arse with the cord.

My neighbor bought an electric and used it a few times. Then he found a better solution -- a grandson that mows it with a lawn tractor.

Yeah, that's what my grand nephew does, loves hooning around on that.

Fine if you have a huge lawn.

It's not rocket science to simply mow away from the power outlet. Then the cord is always on the ground where you've already mown.
