I'm sure your leave pals can't wait to abolish that. Same as all consumer etc protection. What they call taking back control.

Like the referendum scam you mean, were only 1/3rd of those allowed to vote then (so nowhere near 1/3rd of the population, then or now), voted to leave the EU versus the majority who didn't? Sounds more like 'mob rule' to me ... and how many PM's and other representatives of the people have resigned over it all?
Bwhahaha ... oh the naivety!
Or not .... bless.
What sort of democracy is it where the government can only (just) stay in power by forming a coalition with ministers on a different island and have a PM that the electorate didn't actually vote for?
A government that spends £.5M of our money (towards £1M) advertising the dying dairy industry, promoting something that's bad for your health (let alone never designed to be consumed by us and many are intolerant to).
I don't feel guilty about my lifestyle choice
it's just that I have yet to sample a "pretend meat" vegetarian product that didn't taste vile
and I don't like the idea that I might be conned into wasting my money on a product that I end up throwing in the bin
vegetarian products should be obviously vegetarian, and IME they taste all the better for it
I think the intended terminology is pattie
>
oh don't be daft
we already have our own rules for that
Well quite, but at some point in the future, possibly sooner rather than later, the non-meat versions of things will be the norm, so maybe we can stick with 'burger' for the vegan one and 'Blood and suffering burger' for the others till they are completely phased out. ;-)
;-)
Actually, going vegan and having to read some of the ingredients labels have revealed some surprises at to what things we assumed contained meat (or animal secretions) that actually didn't.
Whilst I have 'missed' some things since going vegan in January (like a poached egg), I've not missed anything enough to warrant consuming them again because of how much animal suffering will have been reduced because of it.
They say we each consomme on average 900 animals per year so with the
4 of us now vegan, that's 3,600 animals that haven't had to suffer and / or die, simply because of how we liked how they tasted (and we did, because that's how we had been indoctrinated to think).Cheers, T i m
p.s. I was talking on Whatapp to the guy (a mate) who does wild animal rescue round here (and collected the goose daughter and I caught that had a leg that was cut right though by fishing line and had to be fully amputated at the rescue place) and asked him about the Twitchers that sit in the various hides, watching the beautiful ducks and geese and how many then might go home and have duck or goose for dinner? He didn't reply.
In the virtue-signalling perception-managed lifestyle industry known as veganism, yes, the words used are very important, as shown by the number of times T i m repeats them (as some form of child-like comforter).
You still haven't learned:
a) How UK democracy works b) Why the EU isn't democratic c) The similarities between the EU and its parent, the USSR
<claptrap snipped>
And T i m will tell you that he can't taste the difference...
The one thing that puzzles me is that
why is beef called beef instead of dead cow flesh?
or why is Pork called pork instead of dead pig flesh
or why Roast beef is called Roast beef instead of Roast dead cow?
or why beef steak is not called sliced dead cow
or why sausages are not called minced dead pig flesh?
or why bacon is not called sliced dead pig?
At least we know that a vegetable burger contains vegetables whereas a "beef" burger or "pork" sausage is mostly rusk, fat, ground up bones, gristle and single digit %tage of ground up dead animal flesh?
Because it sounds more attractive and all part of the conditioning that allows someone who wouldn't normally 'hurt an animal' to allow themselves to be disconnected from the process and then do so? ;-(
Yup.
And many people are in denial about it all, that's how they can carry on what they are doing because they have been marketed into buying what the people making the money from it want, without having to consider the animal suffering or the damage the 'industrial levels of production' are doing to the planet and the negative impact on our health.
Why is all the medical advice saying we should eat *more* fruit and veg and consume *less* meat and even avoid all processed meats, if that wasn't the best thing for us to do?
And this is against the push-back of all those with something to loose (money) by not continuing to peddle us with all this stuff that's bad for the animals, the planet and us!
Milk consumption in the UK and the USA has been going down since the
70's and rather than realising that the writing is on the wall and moving over to plant based alternatives, they are trying to pedal the stuff to the far East (with some disingenuous 'Wouldn't you like to do what they do in the West' marketing) peoples who are even more intolerant to the stuff than we are! It's all crazy but luckily, is changing ...
Cheers, T i m
Of course - but we can vote them out - which is more than you can say for Eurocrats.
Like "Buy a Diesel car and help the environment"? That went well.
No-one gets promoted for going against policy, so no matter what the claptrap those with their own interests at heart promulgate it.
With someone like Cummings running the UK? I take it you voted for him?
Very true, no house of lords consisting of clerics etc.
Now that does deserve to have 'claptrap snipped'. But thanks for confirming you know even less about the USSR than our democracy. If that is possible.
Can you vote out *our* civil servants? And they are the ones who draft legislation.
In your dreams, now come back to the real world.
Probably because there isn't a vegan equivalent of a poached egg. I'm sure some chemically flavoured and coloured tofu would suffice.
Why stop there? How about stopping to torture your pets?
Some psychopaths endorse the mutilation of genital of your pets to provide their owners pleasure.
Some psychopaths make their pets eat food that is unnatural for them, torturing them with full bladders and their bowels bursting.
Some psychopaths prolong their life through visits to the vets and when they become too difficult to keep, they have them put down.
Does that make you a psychopath?
because cooking was a Norman thing, and to them its du Boeuf
because cooking was a Norman thing, and to them its du porc
because cooking was a Norman thing, and to them its du Boeuf
because cooking was a Norman thing, and to them its du Boeuf
because cooking was a Norman thing, and to them its une saucisse (salty thing) and they don't have to be pigs flesh.
Because bacon is an old English word and only peasants eat bacon.
You are shopping in the wrong places.
There was no scan. Just a result a fanatic like you didn't like.
Mob rule? You mean a minority should specify what we eat?
Which PM was that?
Then campaign against the advertising. I might even support you.
Thank you for agreeing my mother wasn't a cow. Should I feel grateful?
Of course we can't, so what we are actually talking about is the 5% of actual changes that it would result by voting for *anyone*.
'The people' determine what we do on a day to day basis. The government 'leak' an idea of what they have in mind and watch how we react, too much pushback and they don't bother with it, knowing it will be a fools errand to try to carry on. Well, that is dependant on who has the deepest pockets and is the most persuasive (often with their BS).
Like HS2. The 'carrot' (although a fairly small one) to the British public is that you will get to your destination a few minutes earlier (and rightly few are excited by that). One of the sticks is all the habitat destruction it will cause, most of which few will know and so care about (or care about even if they did know, they don't 'get' all that). However, I understand it will allow more freight to be carried (over the old lines parallel to that route?) and that could be a good thing. Even if it turns out to be no major benefit to most people, it provides a distraction and creates a few jobs (for foreign workers of course).
