lies!

(I just googled for tractor-shaped plantpots, and the closest I found was a tractor-shaped eggcup. Maybe that'll do?)

Jules gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:

Water injection doesn't give extra power - what it does is cool the charge, allowing for more boost without detonation.

... which is why it was a common fitment in WW2 aero engines.

..and why it increases power. You can run with a slightly more advanced spark.

My old midgets always developed more power on cold foggy days...

Reaming out bushes for the kingpins, using a severely reduced hacksaw for cutting the bolts hanging the rear springs ... My recently found enthusiasm is just waning!

Thank you I stand corrected.

Minis

So much space to work on the unit compared to a Mini. The Marina also had the B Series(1800) IIRC.

Spent many a happy weekend at Oulton Park in my teens watching privately entered Lotus Cortinas and Mini Coopers scrapping. Minis knocking spots off Cortinas going round bends only to lose out on the straights!

Well done guys. Made me smile. How will the implied recipient respond?

Agreed re the Focus. I've had two which apart from cold starts are quiet, very economical (both have done over 50 mpg with predominantly motorway driving at between 65 and 80 mph.

I wonder how the plantpot will respond. It is a jocko-plantpot-egg-shaped-tractor thingy type of Jocko plantpot.

Well a Disco II can reach well over 70 and that's just a Defender with a posh body on it.

Our defender was topped out at 90mph. The disco being slightly less of a brick, does a shade more - I think the ton is on.

However you miss the actual point. Its the STOPPING of it in less than

30 seconds..from 70..typically you don't have large tread low profile grippy tyres on one. You have narrow tread M&s designed for traction in mud. It will lock its wheels at far less braking force than a small car with any sporting pretensions..

I see a car that comes close to 60mpg if you drive at Pious speeds that meets all my requirements, the BMW 330d, 700+ mile fuel range,

250 bhp, looks nice, four comfortable seats, good sized boot, Would have to raid the saving though, but I am tempted.

then there were the Lotus Cortina v Ford Galaxy, situation reversed, Crystal Palace and probably Brands Hatch.
