I don't recall saying they wouldn't be signposted.

The brand was first mentioned by Charles with:

"As when there are shops on either side of the road and a zebra crossing. But, if you're driving a Porshe, these things don't matter"

I was responding by reference to that comment - which I took to be based on empirical observations of one or more Porsche drivers in his village.

IME the worst drivers today drive Audis.

That's what the speed bumps are for. Slows my Boxster down to a crawl. ;-)

If the road has an A number, it is a main road.

Gosh, a road without congestion and you think that's a problem. Are ye mad?

Indeed, it was based on the one that nearly hit me yesterday.

One point of view that has been missed in all this is that of pedestrians. It can be quite terrifying when cars go over the limit on narrow roads with narrow pavements.

Those are included in 'impairment or distraction'

Also an MOT failure, if they impinge unduly on the swept area of the windscreen.

Definitely not. Without congestion, there can be no congestion charge. That is the new revenue stream, combined with dirty emissions charges.

I think most people would view that as a plus.

But stupidly has a 20 mph limit.

So stop driving if you are too old to drive properly. I was taught to drive to the conditions and they include the speed limit. Its not an option to exclude anything from the conditions.

You have always been required to observe the legal condition.

WTF? "Required to observe the legal condition." Do you get your phrases from Judge Dredd?

Of course, you have never been in violation of some law.

BTW, I'm guessing your missus isn't a Swede, was she well pleased with yesterday's outcome?

Provided I avoid the school run times and don't get caught at a level crossing with three trains coming, I can usually avoid any congested roads.

So I mistyped and missed an "s".

Maybe I have maybe I haven't, I don't do it deliberately and I expect to be done if I am caught doing so.

No eyed deer. I'm not interested, football is boring, however its better than Wimblebum.

Three lane roads were somewhat accident prone as there is always some idiot that will use the centre lane at the same time a some other "idiot".

Even three lane roads where there are double white lines have people overtaking in both directions.

Maybe, maybe not. Just narrowing the lanes doesn't automatically add to congestion. Slowing the traffic can reduce congestion as has been shown on the motorways and narrowing the lanes does slow the traffic for most drivers.

Dirty emission charges are a good thing, however getting rid of the cars with dirty emissions altogether would be better. Start with all the VW group cars. It would reduce congestion too as many people can't afford to buy new cars after their filthy ones have been crushed.

an interesting comment. I regularly drive on a bit of the M25 where there is a reduced speed limit - and conjestion. My feeling, from being on-site, is that the congestion is caused by the lower speed limit.
