Apple ipads (again)

So are you going to describe the compartmentalization in UNIX SVr5 and the lack of it in linux? Or the difference between linux and se linux. How about the total lack of hardware memory management in embedded linux? Do you still want to claim they all have the same basic architecture?

Someone in the office where I'm working just took delivery of a new iPad. It's a replacement for an Android pad. Reason for the change? He says the Android is rubbish and has never worked properly.

A friend is waiting to see what coem out today from Apple after he brought = a netbook and a tablet that could apparentyl do what an ipad can, except ni= ether did very well at anything so have stayed in the draw total cost about= =A3400, sitting in the draw almost unsusable so uses his 3rd gen. iPod whi= ch functions better for what he does.

Any chance of name and shame? Could be that 99% of Android tablets are brilliant but this is one exception. Or vice versa.

Was this one but brought from HMV (special offer) with an extra 8GB expande= d memory.

I know people who bought PCs running Windows and they were awful I also know some who bought them and they worked wonderfully.

Don't you mean 8GB and 16GB? I thought there was no 32GB Nexus 7.

Both true, but the thing is you really need to know what you want a device = to do. If yuo want to see your music tracks as a long list and be able to s= croll through them effortlessly they try that out before you buy, on the ta= blet he brought it took miniutes to scroll jerkliy down his list but using = an iPod it was one flick of his finger and it scrolled quickly and smoothly= down his list without him have to keep 'encouraging it' . He also wanted to wacth TV while cooking which involved his head moving and= teh angle of view of the tablet was less (not that it shows in the specs) = than the ipod the colours and contrast altered quite dramtically. But it was fine for reading the odd webpage and seemed to work quite well w= ith angrey birds, but did pause on video (youtube), the same track played f= ine on the iPod. There were very few apps he found worked well enough to use on the tablet h= e has a few hundred on his iPod not that I know why.

I wonder if the PCs that were awful were teh cheap ones with high looking s= pecs, with all that crapwear HP/DELL and others seem to think is needed, no= t that they are the worse.=20

My main point is to anyone thing of a device like a tablet or even a phone,= try a few out, tech specs aren't everything, and the quality of software i= s just as important. try before you buy I do with most products given the = chance and with tablets there's plenty of places to give them a try PC worl= d even.=20

There have been srumors surrounding the launch of a 32GB Nexus 7 tablet. The latest rumor surrounding the tablet is that the 32GB model would be in the Argos Christmas Gift Guide which was being released this week. Argos have released the guide and there is indeed a 32GB Nexus 7 tablet there. Unfortunately none of the stores currently have it in stock and there is no indication of when it may be in stock.

However, the 32GB Nexus tablet is likely to go on sale from October 24th, at which point Argos should also have this in stock. The guide gives the 32GB Nexus 7 tablet a catalogue number of 508/9325 but, as of yet it is not available on the website. It replaces the 16GB tablet's pricing and when it is available to buy, it will retail for £199.99.

Wasn't it Drivel here who claimed that the Archos Android tablet was an Apple iPad killer offering features the iPad didn't have, having a faster processor and removable storage? That turned out to be a steaming heap of cack that no one in their right mind would want.

The Nexus 7 is not the same as the 10" i-Pad. That is why Apple are bringing out the mini i-pad to compete.

A large 10" i-pad? What is the point? You may as wel have a much cheaper laptop with SSD drive which will pee all over the i-pad.

Much as I like the earlier Archos media players, I will never buy another Archos made Android based device after my experiences with the Archos 7 Home Tablet.
