__________ That doesn't excuse abbreviating everything or using acronyms for every other phrase in typed conversation.
Sorry - that's just how I was raised: speak/write in plain language, avoid excessive abbreviation, acronyms, slang, or anything else that could muddy the meaning and intended expression of what you're saying.
Lots of people will never live long enough to come out even on ss if they wait. Also you can start enjoying the money while young enough to. If you do die, the spouse or children will get the money.
The company I worked for changed hands and we were able to start taking a pension at 55 or older while still working if we wanted instead of waiting. I was 57 at the time, so took it. I would have had to be around 78 to break even , not counting for any money I would make if I invested it and got any return at all. I spent about half and invested the other part. Also retired at 62 so taking all the pension money and SS I was actually bringing home more than I was when working after the taxes. The stock market IRA has about twice in it than when I retired and I do take out some most years when it is up to do major home repairs like new roof , painter, floor covering, new car bought on time simply because of 0 % interist.
It’s a lot more work for those who are only two finger typists.
And it makes no sense to only use acronyms for the short ones like LOL and SMH, particularly with SMH which is hardly ever used and so isnt going to be recognised by most.
Not often enough to matter.
Yes, but that isnt going to happen because most are quite slow typists.
That’s why they abbreviate facebook as FB etc.
It isnt an excuse, it’s a reason.
Yes, every day.
Yes I do and I made that earlier point before reading this of yours.
Financially speaking, that would generally be a mistake. Especially if you were to make the poorest choice and put the money into a simple savings account where it's pretty much guaranteed to lose buying power as the rate of inflation exceeds the rate of return.
I'm sure they didn't know any better. My grandparents certainly didn't. What little money they had was held in a passbook savings account at their local bank. About the only way you can do worse is to not save anything at all, which a lot of folks do. Also, a savings goal of 3-5% is better than zero, but barely. I'd shoot for at least 10-15%. In my case, I started off by saving 50% of my pay when I was single, but due to family obligations it dropped to just 25% in later years. With the kids grown and gone, it's back over 50% again.
You don't need to take a beating to enjoy tax-free withdrawals, especially in situations where you need a chunk of money just for a while.
If I can do it - and I'm lazy and have residual neuropathy in my digits - so can you or anybody else. No excuses.
___________ The reason I asked if you frequented FACEBOOK(typed in full just to piss folks off!) is because that place is chockful of LOLs, SMHs, or emoji to that effect.
Wait a second - "SMH" "hardly ever used"??? What planet are you from?
How long has the savings been paying 2% or less, and for how many years is less than 1%? Right now I would not even waste the gas to drive to the bank to put any money in the passbook savings. Probably would go in the hole buying gas for the car to do it.
There have been many years of over 10% gains. How long do you think it would take you to double your money at 2 % ? I have done better than that in the last 10 years, not counting on taking out about 3 % every year during that time.
For a company that has a 401 K with matching funds, how can one not inverst in the 401k to the limit of the match ? YOu must have a ID TEN T error in your calculations.
After retiring there is not very much tax on most of the money I receive.
I think that's what was mentioned. I didn't do much calculation; I didn't need it so I didn't file. Even now it's not a good thing at tax time. I'm still working and the last think I need is more income that I don't use.
Yes we can, but have enough sense to choose not to.
It isnt an excuse, it’s a reason for using acronyms and most do even if you choose not to do that.
I have never seen anyone use SMH in there and I use it daily.
And I see a lot more other illiteracys in there like draws for drawers etc. And given that so many use their phones for facebook, it isnt at all surprising that many do use acronyms in there given the virtual keyboards that they are using.
And before you snipe at the spelling of illiteracys, I choose to use the ys form instead of ies form deliberately.
