i have been needing a mortiser and a local store has a shop fox for 159 bucks. is that a good machine and a good price? any other recomendations?

Go for it! They're great machines, are more versatile than most other brands, and are real time savers!

Yeah - it gets good reviews. And yeah - if it's the W1617, that's a good price
