I don't deny it happens. However, as I said, only the most incompetent put themselves in that position and those drivers really should not be using a motorway.

So you don't use motorways in case the driver in front stops as that will force you to stop and that's just incompetence by you.
As I have pointed out before, I have never needed the full length of a slip road to merge safely and seamlessly with the main carriageway, so somebody who does stop at the end of the slip road is not going to be in front of me. Indeed, there is a good chance that, by that point, traffic permitting, I will be in lane 2, just in case that driver tries to use the same gap I used. Don't assume all drivers share your own inabilities.
