The remote controller for my Humax HDR-FOX T2 PVR was getting very 'iffy', especially the much-used OK button, so I got a fully-functional and programmable genuine replacement, which works fine and as it should. So I thought I might try opening up the old one and cleaning the contacts and using it as a back-up - after all, I have nothing to lose if it all goes wrong, but it would give me a spare if I should need it.
So what's the best way of opening these things. It looks as though they split round the 'equator' as it were, like a scallop shell, but they're obviously made so as not to be easily opened. Is there a reasonably successful approach to prising them open and closing again, and if I can get it open without putting a screwdriver through my hand, what's the best thing for cleaning the contacts?
