My mobile phone has opened all by itself. The tech says the battery puffed and split it apart. Got too hot.

I had a GPS receiver mounted on the top of the dash in my car. It had a internal battery (flat type) and when it failed I discovered that it had expanded by approx 50% height and had dislodged the battery cover.
I've had the hard disk out of mine, although not to replace it. Very simple.
I was replacing the capacitor that, when it fails, causes a repeated boot loop (which is eventually comes out of, depending on temperature).

I suspect this is more likely caused by incomplete removal of hygroscopic soldering flux during manufacture.
Guitar picks are good too.
