Don't touch that knee

As opposed to your continual sneering at my choice of career?

Most on here aren't ashamed to say what they do/did for a living. Human nature to draw conclusions about those who want to keep it secret. Perhaps you hope others think you were doing something so important you're not allowed to reveal it. I've seen that before with those who were paper clip salesmen.

Wake up and follow the news some time. It will tell you what's happening..... and what's forecast. Enlightenment beckons. :)

Try keeping an open mind. You will get there in the end.

I'm not sure they (ever) will / can. ;-(

And without a cause or crusade, how can you not look at all of this

*without* an open mind ... considering it's changing all the time?

But if you want out because you are *sure* it *will* be the right thing for *most people*, why don't those who actually have to power (in the UK) not be equally sure and do it (and 'conspiracy theories' are not an answer, only facts are).

I do follow the news. In this part of the world (East Anglia) there are serious concerns about a shortage of temporary agricultural workers owing to the drop in immigrants.

Here in Kent those seasonal workers return to Eastern Europe at the end of the fruit picking season and return the following year.

we had that problem too in that the country wouldn't survive if we didn't force kids of 10 to work down the pits.

Then we need the Thatcher way. Simply close down all the farms if you can't get the workforce for what you're prepared to pay. After all you can buy food from anywhere in the world easily..

So how did we manage getting coal out of pits without 10 year-olds ?

The reasons they can;t get the workforce is because it;s not a full time jo b and there;s no career prospets, but UKers do go to teh EU and fruit and v egatable pick there in a similar way. Maybe they should try doing what they do in the EU for attracting foreign pickers. In that yuo have a job you' k now you'll, have a job next year and teh year after it will be for a month or two as my friends the budders know, they see mostly the same people thei r for a few years.

Do you think they fruit pick in the EU, maybe you should find out how they go about it and do the same here, that's how I would do things if I owned a farm, I do know of one where a friend goes and picks friut and veg and eve n olives in sussex.

So who picks the fruit in those countries ? How is it managed ?

Prick tried that on my 29 year old daughter 18 years ago. It cost him ? ?30,000 to settle out of court as she sued him for sexual assault. Turned out he had history

Its a criminal offence so why did it go to a civil court?

Why do victims of medical negligence often get less than that ?30,000 for longer lasting physical and emotional damage?

Is he exaggerating?
