And this is why we should leave the EU!

"Channel migrants given right to work in UK"

"Home Office grants asylum seekers route to employment in care, construction and farming"

"Channel migrants have been quietly given the right to work in sectors including care, construction and agriculture and can still retain access to state-subsidised bed and board under a Home Office scheme. Nearly 16,000 asylum seekers, including those who crossed the Channel in small boats, have been allowed to work in a single year, according to data obtained under Freedom of Information (FOI) laws."

Why is the EU still forcing mass immigration onto our beautiful island?

C'mon Farage! Take us out of the EU!

This isn't very clear.

You're living in the UK as an Italian national and EU citizen.

Who is the "we" in your subject that wishes to leave the EU? Italy?

Could I ask quite why everyone is so anti immigration? I do think though that they should not bring the less than desirable traits of other cultures here, and should live by our rules, not something out of the dark ages when lawlessness was rife. Brian

I'm not immigration. What I am against is the never ending increase in demand for housing and other infrastructure. When that catches up with the current population then that is when I would agree to continued but measured immigration.

I can only assume you are sitting pretty in your house with no mortgage. I also assume you probably bought your first property on your 20s when house-prices were a relatively low multiplier of incomes. These days offspring will generally live with their parents until their 30s.

I do agree, though some of our rules such as Sunday trading are also from the dark ages.

There are also some from Eastern Europe who think they can extend their cartels into the UK.

There's controlled immigration comensurate with the needs of the domestic economy, which is all very well, but then there's a flood of all sorts of undesirables due to porous borders and an abject failure on the part of government to do anything about it. You have no idea at the moment who's coming in and what their intentions are. All those fake "refugee" 'boat people' coming over the Channel are breaking the law by entering in this way and it doesn't say much for how law-abiding they will go on to be once inside.

Who decides on what is meant by "all sorts of undesirables"?

Sheer numbers. If we keep importing 100s of thousands of people (net) every year, we'll never have enough housing and prices will continue to rise; we'll continue to have people unable to get their children into the local school, because it is oversubscribed; we'll have more and more restrictions on driving, due to added emissions and congestion; we'll need to import more food, more energy, more goods; we are supposed to be reducing pollution and CO2 emissions, but adding more people adds more emissions, requiring greater cuts by everyone else. More and more green-spaces are being built on for the extra housing. The list goes on.

The population has increased by around 22% in my lifetime and is expected to increase by 30% (from the same start date) by 2050. Poor/small housing, loss of gree spaces and overcrowding everywhere is damaging to us all.

Everyone isnt. Those that are are mostly against it because the immigrants take the jobs of the locals and particularly the illegals drive down the wages for the dregs of the locals and drive up the cost of housing when the rate of immigration is as high as it currently is in the UK,

Impossible to stop that happening. We have the same problem with you poms who choose to show up here because we do things much better than you lot do and demand that we should do things the way they are done in pomland, particularly with what the govt stupidly does.

Corse pomland was never like that, eh ?

The courts and criminal justice system eventually - *if* they're ever caught, of course.

Even then, they've often been here for some time and the courts rule that deporting them would be too disruptive for them, as they are established here or they have met someone and settled down, possibly even having children here.

Maybe it needs to be a case of "as we can't deport you, you will be imprisoned for x years" - still messes up "family life", but allows visits and future reunion.

What is the track record of these migrants?

And then the demand will be for Sharia Law to be incorporated into British law, and any civilisation we have will vanish in a wave of stonings, honour killings and compulsory Islamic teaching in all schools.

Once they have killed all the Jews. And LBGTQs or whatever it is...

First they came for the Communists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Communist Then they came for the Socialists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Socialist Then they came for the trade unionists And I did not speak out Because I was not a trade unionist Then they came for the Jews And I did not speak out Because I was not a Jew Then they came for me And there was no one left To speak out for me
