Why are motors not current limited?

You can buy professional power tools with that sort of protection, or you can buy much cheaper DIY tools without it. My Metabo SDS drill has it, but it cost well over £300.

Vastly more expensive power controller than the light dimmer used as a speed control in DIY power tools.

tool so if you over-stress it, it doesn't consume enough current to mel= t the coils?

And how do you measure this duty cycle when the physical load is vastly = different depending on what you're cutting?

Or at the peril of the manufacturer. I bought an =A380 strimmer which c= laimed you could fit a blade for thicker bushes. Admittedly I fitted a = blade from a bench saw and cut through the odd fence post aswell as thic= k bush trunks, and on a few occasions it jammed up. I just sent it back= under warranty and got a new one. Their fault for making a motor that = can kill itself.

The most recent failure was my 750W angle grinder. The 4 inch blade jus= t doesn't cut through very thick stuff, so I fitted a 9 inch blade. The= motor gave up with smoke. I'm ordering a 2200W one.

Some "chinese english" instructions for an automatic light switch, needl= ess to say I did not attempt to follow them during the installation....

The surface design is facility, comely but not losing generosity, it wil= l not have accidented feeling after installation. Wide working voltage: you will not be worried when you go all over Europ= e carrying it. You could fix the sensor with two screws on the junction box in circular= one, also fix it with special installation shelf. In a word, whether the junction box installation orientation is true, it= makes the installation flatly. The lamp will be on automatically when you knock at the door or say "I a= m coming back". It will make your home warmer and more romantic. Penetrate the setscrew into installation hole, block on radiator to aim = at the installation hole on connection box. Let electrician or experienced human install it. The unrest objects can't be regarded as the installation basis-face. Don't open the case for your safety if you find the hitch after installa= tion. If there is any difference between instruction and products, please give= priority to product, sorry not to inform you again.

Yes, but cars have very powerful motors. Even a washing machine has a v= ery complex control unit.

And with any luck if there is a button to lock the trigger that gets pushed into your hand also. I am depressed by this constant discrimination of people of left handedness. It has to stop.

A powder actuated Hilti would be more fun. They are probably illegal in the UK though.

It would already be locked if One had chosen to use it. The locking action would be unlikely to be engaged accidentally.

If you feel strongly about the discrimination then an approach to people like Eclipse might be worthwhile. The basic problem is the flute.

Personally though I think you would get a more immediate effect with Prozac.

They also will not burn up if you stall them occasionally. I just bound up my Makita circular saw and stalled the motor. No problem at all because I took my finger off the switch. I have had my big Milwaukee drill smoking, spinning large hole saws but it is still chugging along 35 years later.

Fuses are almost obsolete now for residential, commercial, and industrial wiring. Everything uses breakers - with ground fault and arc fault in most residential branch circuits

The cost of basic protection is far less than replacing the tool at every turn, however, the cost of this basic protection is offset by increasing the product price to approximate how many unprotected tools you can save via this cheap protection circuit..

SO you have a choice, keep buying the cheap one's that are always changing the design so you can't use old units for parts but if gives you that always new look! Or you can buy the protected one and allow it to get ratty looking, beat up looking, twisted, out of alignment etc.. Now think of this from a used car salesmans perspective, put a fresh coat of paint on that car with no enigine cyou can sell it everytime..

The same holds true when showing up for a job with sparkling new tools which may give them the impression that you are a neat freak and that impresses the customers because they no absolutely nothing about what you are really selling!

Mains.

You can stall an angle grinder quite easily, just twist it slightly in the concrete you're cutting.

The thing is, if you sell an unprotected tool, how many get broken withi= n a month by someone being clumsy or making a mistake, costing you the m= anufacturer a lot of money in replacements? I bought an =A380 strimmer = and got a free one in 2 weeks when I stalled it.
