Oh, the horror. There goes the neighborhood.

So temperature checks are window dressing too if we believe asymptomatic transmission is a significant thing. You can find a study from WHO that says it is or it isn't so they are not much help.
I'm likewise saddened, but also oddly intrigued, by attempts to preserve statues that honor and celebrate the side that LOST in the Civil War, the side of the traitors. Why in hell would we honor those bastards? I say get that s*it into a museum where no one has to see it unless they actually want to.
Now that we're both saddened, I'd also say that I'm overjoyed to see how much progress has been made in such a short period of time. I'm hopeful that the momentum will continue.

All of which doesn't matter once you realize that *something* is better than *nothing*.
Maybe I'm just overly sensitive to that kind of s***ty behavior because every year when Memorial Day rolls around, people treat it as a day to have a barbecue and mattress stores treat it as national mattress sale day. Few seem to understand its significance. Your focus on what will be closed looked like more of that, unfortunately.
I wonder if Trump really does want out so he can get back to making money on TV. That did seem to be his most lucrative source of income and notoriety. I can see him with his own show on Fox. It would certainly throw the GOP into more turmoil if he backed out before the convention. I don't think Pence has the support he would need to even get Trump numbers at the polls. I am not sure who else they could come up with.
LMFAO! Interesting how choosing to refute from the norm of mask wearing lemmings is incapable of "independent" thought. You do know the meaning of independent, right? LMFAO!
Just like in Mexico - its DF - District Federale
So Trump has been lying all along about being worth $8 bil? Whatever he got from The Apprentice was his main source of income? The rest of the claimed empire is less than that?
Sadly, I think you're right. This POS has no dignity, no respect for the office, no respect for the country. He won't be like all the other former presidents who confined their activities to a book and some non-controversial speeches. No, this shyster will be with us for years to come. The only hope is that either his trumtards finally get sick of listening to him whine about losing or something finally comes out that shows what a true scumbag he really is. MAybe he'll go nuts after losing and blame the trumptards for his loss.
I think they are toast with or without Trump. When Trump was running in the primary, I predicted that his election would be the end of the GOP for a generation, maybe forever. We may be there. They are all certainly not my party anymore.
The values you speak of should be part of your life every day, not just one. My flag flies in front of the house every day. I feel the same way about Christmas and birthdays. Why limit your generosity to a day or two a year?
That actually makes sense. I guess this was just a relic from an earlier time when we were thinking Washington was a great man. Now he is just another racist oppressing the black man.
Personally I would carve out the area south of Pennsylvania Avenue and west of S Capitol St (including the Capitol and SCOTUS complex) where the bulk of the federal building and monuments are, make that the District and cede the rest of the business and residential to Maryland. They already lopped off the Virginia part of the original district 160+ years ago. The Pentagon and the CIA still seemed to be just fine there. That used to be an area Maryland didn't want but now most of it has been "gentrified" and the downtrodden moved across the line to PG and Montgomery county. "Washington" can still be a city, maintaining it's local government. It just would not be the federal colony people gripe about. They might want to call it Booker T Washington or Denzel Washington but at least they would get full representation in congress.
I don't want to start rumors/rumours, but what happened to the $500 Billion in Federal stimulus money that Steven Mnuchin refuses to talk about? Where did that money go? Did Trump's companies and/or his friends get a cut? I agree, TV money is easy money, but Fed money under cover is even easier. The thing is, if the next administration is Democratic, all of this hidden info is going to come tumbling out.
Mnuchin is Keeping $500 Billion in Bailout Funds Secret
This week the Trump admin fired the head of the Voice of America and all of the advisory board members for all of VOA's various branches, such as Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia, etc. The people now in charge have zero experience with such things. There's concern that Trump will bend the role of VOA so that instead of advocating for the US and our way of life, it will simply advocate for Trump and the Trump way of life.
Fears over US media independence as Trump-appointed chief fires editors
If Trump stays in the race, he has a chance of winning. He beat the polls last time, with a little help from his Russian friends, and this time around he has both Russia and China in the mix so it could happen again. If he drops out, leaving Pence to hold the reins, he'll be handing the Presidency to Biden, but I could see Trump spinning that in his favor. One thing is nearly certain: unlike most past Presidents who go away quietly for the most part, I doubt that Trump would suddenly become silent after he leaves office. He'll be complaining about the next President using a teleprompter, going golfing, and on and on.
I see that a Federal judge denied Trump's suit to stop the release of Bolton's book. Damn, it's been a bad week in the courts for Trump. Three major losses in the same week.
Federal judge denies Trump administration's attempt to block release of Bolton's book
There's starting to be some rumbles in the jungle about specific Republicans weighing their options this time around. They see the same polls that we all see and they have to be wondering which is the winning strategy. Do they stay aligned with Trump and go down if he goes down, or do they break away and try to rebrand themselves as intellectuals. It's a tough choice.
Wait, you're taking the high ground? After asking what's closed on a holiday? :-)
I think the key word was 'thought'.
I doubt it. Too ego centric to want to lose this election, particularly given that he has to go in 4.5 years anyway.
And he wouldn't be doing his high risk conventions which are clearly about getting elected again.
Yes, but its unlikely that he needs the income now and he already has much more notoriety having been the most stupid prez for a hell of a long time now.
No chance.
Academic imo.
Do you think they won't burn the museums?
Nope, they do catch those who might be infected with this virus and are a good reason to get a test for this virus and are very quick and easy to do, unlike the test for this virus.
Yes, you get a lot of false positives but that's a good thing when excluding people from planes or buses or situations where it isnt possible to social distance.
But they arent the only source of reliable medical info, stupid.
It's too late for that. The die is cast. It's clear that almost all GOP Congressmen and Senators have supported the Trump s*it show. My Congressman, Chris Smith is a Republican in a Republican district. He's taken the go into hiding approach. Never see him praising Trump, never see him criticizing him either. I wrote him several emails after some of Trump's despicable actions and told him he needs to stand up to him. NEver got a reply. He's been there for many terms. I voted against him for the first time last election. I will vote against him again, but he'll get re-elected. At least I can add to decreasing the victory.
Nothing has worked with this bunch. The only thing left is they need to suffer an epic defeat at all levels. Only that will send the message that what they did, supporting the shyster, was despicable. And if that happens, IDK what follows. IMO, the GOP is probably done, that if Trump goes down in flames, he's generated so many crazed fools that they won't be able to coalesce into any common ground, it will be a fractured free-for-all, with many deciding not to even vote. Even if Ronald Reagan came back to life, he couldn't talk sense into these whackos. I'm surprised they haven't already added him to Bush 41, 43, Romney, McCain, etc as just a no good bum. It's now a sick cult, not a party.
Our town in CT at least still had a parade. the Gold Star Mothers and a memorial service at the park. To many, they have no idea what it is really about. It is not a happy holiday.
