Basin tap fixing

Feb 03, 2004 4 Replies

Is it possible to service single lever (mono) basin mixer tap? The handle is loose and it turns freely from side to side and up and down. Is there something that could be tightened? Otherwise the tap (Ideal Standard, approx 7 years old) is still functioning but it is difficult to control. Please, help if you can.

Probably, yes. But all single handle faucets give up way before conventional types, so yours may be a good candidate for replacement. Check a plumbing supply house for parts, or maybe a box store, then consider new units, factor in your valuable time and decide what is best. HTH

You might find an Allen bolt that needs tightening somewhere inconspicuous upon the handle...Tom Someday, it'll all be over....

Hi Jellicoe,

You could get spare basin tap parts from idea standard. Just an idea.
