We've delivered your ...

I ordered a large hole drill from Toolstation on Sunday.

I always order "to collect" as I am not far from them and usuallty nearby during the week.

They notified me that it was ordered too late for next day delivery but will deliver tomorrow (Tuesday).

Well, I accepted I must have made a mistake about delivery.

Then a delivery outfit called Evri begin enthusiastically sending me updates of its progress including a prediction of delivery between

14:00 and 16:00. all good stuff.

Finally they wrote that it had been delivered. Except I have been working on carpentry in my drive all day and no one has been near or by.

So I follow the tracking link and get to where they offer a photo of "proof of delivery".

The photo is of a Toolstation counter!

Don't you just love modern technology?

Anyway I exchanged info with their bot and will await developments.

Some items at TS/SF/etc are 'direct ship': they d "This item will be delivered directly by our supplier. Lead times are shown on the product and trolley pages and are always advertised in working days (Monday to Friday).

If your order contains items stocked by us and items that come direct from the supplier, your order will be automatically split and processed accordingly.

We will pass the details you give us, including delivery details, your email address and your phone number, to the relevant supplier.

Most of our suppliers can deliver to any UK address. Delivery to remote or offshore postcodes may take a little longer than the advertised lead time. If the supplier cannot deliver to your postcode or we believe your order may take longer, we will try to tell you beforehand.

Items that come direct from a supplier will be delivered by the courier chosen by the supplier. Where possible, suppliers will update you with delivery information. This may be by email, phone call or text message.

Items delivered direct from suppliers cannot be returned through a store. You would need to return these items direct to the supplier, unused and in their original packaging, at your expense. You can arrange for the items to be collected, for a fixed fee of £9, by contacting our Customer Services team. The fee will be taken off your refund. There is no charge for faulty items being collected.

Please note, you cannot return bespoke or made-to-measure items unless they are faulty. "

Although I can't see how that would end up with a delivery to a store.

Proof that it will be there when you go to collect it, as you arranged.

The delivery outfit called Evri, is rebadged Hermes, and they are still as bad.

A story I heard was that the reason why Hermes was rebadged to Evri was because the public started referring to Herpes instead of Hermes.....

a la people referring to Parcel Farce instead of Parcel Force!

Sounds like that by "delivery", they meant to themselves from their supplier.

So they gave your name/contact info and their own Toolstation address to their supplier.

I have since retrieved a screenshot of the order acknowledgement. It was for collection.

They should have sent an email telling me it was ready for collection. They haven't.

Evri haven' come back to me.

Toolstation's chat bot has gone away to get an agent!

I doubt they'd be bothered about schoolboy humour, and not enought to spend millions on rebranding.
