Washers - nice one Screwfix

Ah. How tall are they typically and how do you support them and prevent wax getting everywhere?

That sounds like the stuff I fancied as a kid but was never given :-(

There was also Minibrix - which I did have. This had rubber bricks (similar size to Lego bricks I think) with bulbous studs on the bottom and matching sockets on top. The bricks were in a sort of terracotta red colour and there were white lintels with sockets top and bottom. It could be quite hard work getting the studs into the sockets, the easy way was to lick them first.

My pleasure Mary, although I don't know quite how it evolved!! It always surprises me how the oddest posts can spawn massive discussions (eg this thread >100 posts to date)

Mind you, have to say I'd much rather I had some replies to the other thread I kicked off yesterday "Guttering problem"! thread length precisely 'zero' so far :-(

Given that they consisted at times of a base with a number of upsticking spikes, and were used by children, it should be possible to figure that one out. :)

Great site. Best laugh I've had all week.

Had a nearly unfortunate experience with one of those horrible Christmas noise things a while ago. Took a load of paper, including cards, to the local dum^h^h^hcivic amenity site and chucked it in the appropriate container. Thought "Where the hell is that row coming from?" as Jingle Bells or some such wafted tinnily around the place. Realised it was a card I had just dumped, so got out as fast as I could before anyone realised it was my fault they'd have to listen to it for some time. How long do they play for, anyway?

I've often wondered that.

Of course, there's an easy way to find out ...

you first.
