the egg box shaped sheet stuff you attach to a damp wall then render over ? it supposedly allows the air to flow over the damp wall while giving you a dry rendered face to work with

You have a damp wall that bad? You want to tell us all about it? Clean the gutters and see if you can spot the cracked tiles / missing slates / leaking plumbing / rotten windows.

That would make more sense. There is usually a reason for things being unavailable. Sometimes it is because of the alternative(s).

it's a cellar wall, underground, and isn't possible to excavate to apply an external barrier, without being prohibitively expensive, due to the layout of the terrace. most of the houses in my terrace suffer from damp, to one degree or another, on the same cellar wall.
