TV programme guide

As d-i-y as most things currently discussed here:-)

Now the transmitted Freeview TV guide is disfunctional, has anyone come across a searchable on line version?

I have the RT version but would like something to pick out films etc. without having to trawl.

Same issue here. The RT thing is unbelievably annoying. Regularly plain wrong or switches to different settings. And if one of the broadcasters changes proigram times, they almost never catch up.

I have in the past searched for better listings sources.

I have just found TV 24.co.uk

Which lists one days films and gives a synopsis.

Now if only I could tick a box and have the recording scheduled on my Toppy:-)

Is it really that bad? I thought they had supposedly improved it. Brian

Ummm.. Does the job but I heartily dislike the white on black presentation and don't really want to join up.

No problem here (on TV or PC with tuner)

Doesn't let me choose the right channels for me!

Also dislike the look.

Fairly old Panasonic. Coincided with moving house so I am just catching up.

TV relies on data broadcast by the channels themselves. Limited information, no search function and very slow.

Not all channels transmit the data.

They did make some changes a while back. But still pretty poor.

Things like having a window which shows programs between 20:00 and 23:00. You have to choose to scroll, horizontally, to see earlier or later.

And it opens with yesterday's programs selected most of the time.

And the other day, all but the programs with the shortest names had their titles truncated. Something like "Death" rather than "Death in Paradise".

I've used it for a couple of years and never been spammed from it.

You might be able to change the white on black style using Stylus/Stylish and rewriting the CSS.

Funnily enough, we too have a fairly old Panasonic. The apps were always pretty poor, and until very recently our broadband was so slow we avoided anything to do with them.

Looked for a replacmeent TV recently and found nothing that was both significantly better and within our size range. Decided to stick with what we have got until it finally really does go belly up (not just threats that it makes from time to time).

We really don't want a 55" monster in our modest living room - would be very difficult to accommodate one.
