I think each channel transmits the "now & next" information as part of that channels stream. The 7 day "electronic program guide" is transmitted seperately and only lists the channels that make up a specific platform, Sky, Freesat, Freeview etc.
There was(is?) a system, Guide+, that used the VBS space (like teletext used) on a couple of set channels to provide data for an EPG.
The OP could have one of the Pansonic sets that have a known fault with unreliable/slow EPG. Normally shows itself as not being able to remember the full EPG between uses and slowly filling in details as they arrive.

Google seems to indicate this is a Panansonic issue. Currently the program guide shows the current and next program, very slow to propagate and not for all channels.
My Toppy is fine but doesn't have any search provision.
Just so:-(

This appears to be a Panasonic problem.
Yes. See above. I was whinging about the need to sign in to recover preferences.

I never do. You only need a cookie and all that needs is a spoof email address in case you lose settings.
All that does is allow personalisation of the channels displayed
yes the now/next and the 7 day epg are transmitted in separate tables
but all terrestrial muxes include info for all other muxes as well as their own, obviously terrestrial doesn't include satellite info, or vice-versa
Yes
what would be then point of the Freeview system broadcasting the EPG for channels not on Freeview
How would receivers display the details?
I have a Hummy PVR that does this, and never fully displays 7 days for all channels.
but it's not because FV channels aren't transmitting it

I setup something similar to replace toppy. I use a network connected dual tuner, controlled from Plex. You can browse the guide, and shedule recordings of one show or the whole series. Spread over one or many channels. etc. Seems to work well.
That sounds interested. What is the tuner?
Digiguide for Windows

Yes, but it is one of the few bits of software I've found to be worth buying.
There is also a free web based version at
This seems to work pretty well:
I'd guess there's something similar for Android.
Cheers, Rob

you're renting it

Did wonder too. I've not noticed any difference.
My Panasonic (main set) seems the same as always.
But does it show what's on the HD channels? ;-)
