Stopping at a bus stop.

I have no idea if you don't know how to check your facts or if you just can't be bothered because they might not fit your prejudice but AFAIK there's as yet no law that says you can't be called on prejudiced rubbish.

Someone mentioned Grant Road, and I now see the rear entrance there on Streetview. Again, both bus stops say "No stopping except buses", but I agree it's harsh you got a ticket. You'd have been all right if you'd stopped outside the marked bus stop boundaries.

Let's just call it a stupidity tax. If he were from outside London, it would be harsh.

Before that bus stop is a zebra crossing - zig zags either side of it. On this day there was an ambulance parked just after the bus stop and others in front of it. After that the road narrows, so likely to cause an obstruction when stopping - and little if any pavement on that side.

I'm rather surprised at the number of holy joes on here. All lying through their teeth. ;-)

What would you have done if there had been a bus at the stop when you arrived? Or a bus close behind you?

What, precisely am I lying about?

Nothing The Aberdeen Immigrant is so used to calling people liars. It's second nature amongst socialists.

So stupid it didn?t even notice that it?s a different version of WLM which doesn?t quote properly.

Fraid not.

Do you ever answer questions?

Or should we just assume you'd have parked on the zig-zags and complained bitterly if fined since you could see there was no one crossing so no harm was done?

Red herring don't live in the wild.

It's too hard a concept for me too.

Last time I hailed one for a ride I was astonished to find it was over a tenner for something I'd have walked but for the two suitcases.

When my company sends me via LHR they pay for a taxi. It's over a hundred quid.

Compute the annual depreciation and running costs on a car. Then compute how many taxi rides you can do for the same amount. Local ones, I'm generally talking about, that will allow you to live and have some sort of life. I'm not talking about being chauffeured from your house at Land's End to see your child living in Inverness, and back (although see below).

There's a woman at our church who does this. And my sister and Polish spouse, now too old to drive or walk very far, visited us via a chauffeured car - 200 miles each way.
