Evri a LOT more reliable than RM in my area.

Arrived at courier facility could mean that the package has been just been picked up from the supplier and is at the originating hub. That doesn't necessarily make EVRI unreliable as it could have been the supplier who delayed dispatch? The supplier may not have paid for a next day delivery. From what you have written it's not coming from Amazon but from a third party who are not using the Amazon delivery service.

Still showing as arriving today ...

My experience (both with Evri and DPD) is that, once the delivery date is missed, the tracking stops offering any useful information and the parcel will turn up in its own good time (probably).

so ... how is this connected to Evri ?

Amazon is not just a shop - it also acts as a courier

Amazon use a variety of couriers - including Evri. Even from their own warehouses.

Now *estimated * delivery is 4th Feb. 5 days delayed.

So the "Arrived at courier facility", now you understand that unless a city-name is featured in the status line, it's so much smoke they're blowing.

This is the "virtual-abyss" of package tracking. The tracking label is printed off at the source end, before anyone has even checked whether there is stock. The tracking system will just make stuff up, until a hand-scanner actually checks the item in, and then a city-name or a depot-name is associated with the track at that time. The hand-scanner will be used, when the item is put on the truck at the warehouse.

And in the corrupt tracking system of today, status updates are not generally delivered to the web site, until the damn thing is delivered. It's not that electronically, the item is not being tracked internally in their system. They just choose not to show you any details. If it was not delivered and was waylaid, what then ? Dunno. I've been to enough depots, to see the number of times they scan stuff. The scanning is endless, the details... hidden. There is a scan at the truck. There is a scan at the service counter. And so on. Every time a thing is handled, it's scanned. If a truck arrives back at depot at 5PM and deliveries were not finished, it's scanned and stored inside (because the trucks have been broken into, in the parking lot in back). But that scanning record, with the 20 entries, they won't show you that. It's just computer bytes, and there's no reason to hide that track.

Apparently, the tracking system even includes "weight" ! Not at every stop presumably, but maybe before the air-freight step.

In a recent story, an RTX 5090 box had the GPU removed and rocks and a towel put in the box. But when the company did an investigation into the matter, the tracking system showed a "weight discrepancy of 2 kilos" at the point the rocks were put in there. The weight changed while it was in transit. Now, they have to figure out what shipping employee did it. And it takes more than a hand-scan to do that (check in the weight). I have seen the item weight recorded at the service counter, on ingress. But that's for payment calculations and classification as an "overweight item".

But Amazon Marketplace sellers don't have to use Amazon delivery, although some do.

It's coming from China with a Chinesium specification :(

It's much like Ebay sellers claiming Uk seller and RM 24 delivery. Up to

10 days shipped from China to a UK agent and then it by RM.

Are you sure that the original message you got from Evri wasn't just a "tracking number has been raised and we are awaiting dispatch"

Check the business address of the Amazon third party marketplace seller.

Alternatively, unless the seller has paid Evri for next day delivery their normal timescale to is 3+ days for a standard delivery.

Also keep track of the delivery. If its a Amazon delivery (not Amazomn marketplace) sometime they will automatically cancel and refund if delivery is delayed too long (a week or more) This can also happen if they remove a seller from the marketplace due to scam selling etc.

They are in my area too. The Evri driver has been doing my area for a few years now and he knows which neighbouring houses will take in parcels for houses with no answer. Provided a parcel gets to his distribution point, it will be delivered.

RM delivered something addressed to me to the right numbered house but in a completely different street and I had to look at their GPS in their email saying it had been delivered to find out where to go to rescue it. Given that postcodes were a RM arrangement to help with deliveries, you would have thought that RM would know which street my postcode was in.

Another update - it's now "Out for delivery" :)

A casual diagnosis of EVRIs woes would centre attention on a legacy system that works in batches.

(Here I must declare that in my last job I had to interface our sales systems to the courier systems and I am well aware of how 1970s they are when you get close).

Evri here have always been excellent, as has been discussed, it seems to be the people responsible. Move to East Anglia!

My current problem is with FedEx. My house is Xyz House, Xyz Lane, B.......e It was delivered to Xyz Close, W.....m, the next village. The Fedex Proof of delivery says it has my signature on file, but when I asked for this to be removed, as my front door is right on the road, and anything left there is not secure, they replied that there is nothing to remove. So where do they have my signature on file? I have yet to receive my package. To say that the left hand does not know what the right hand is is to assume that at least one of them knows, and at the moment, that is not demonstrateable. It sounds as though your local Evri staff may be ex-FedEx staff.

... how is this connected to Evri ?

Similarly, online (and other) retailers with no other connection to Amazon are able to use Amazon courier services.

I believe they sometimes pack the stuff for you as well and if thats the case then as surely as night follows day the end result will be plastered with Amazon "branding" - leaving the customer wondering who they are actually dealing with

It entirely depends on the local depot.

My Evri courier who *doesn't* steal goods, is in fact really reliable. Ex postwoman who knows the area thoroughly and updates delivery times dynamically.

Many Amazon Marketplace sellers also have Ebay on-line shops and their own on-line web sites where you can purchase. They will tend to use the same delivery service irrespective from which site the customer placed their order. If this delivery service is provided by Amazom you will often find Amazon Prime branded packing tape has been used to secure the package.

Absolutely diabolical. Then after the thing is dumped here, they have the cheek to ask for feedback. Feedback, which no one ever bothers to read. I do wish companies were forced to indicate which company they intend using for the delivery, then at least I could avoid them.

And in deed sometimes the prices on their OWN websites are much cheaper than amazon prices.

It used to be that you couldn't sell any cheaper off Amazon than through Amazon. That may have changed, but I'd be surprised.

Well i was true when I bought a new office desk...

Amazon price £235

formatting link
Ebay price £210 free delivery

If you are buying on eBay its sometimes possible to work out which carrier is being used
