Evri (Hermes) tracking

A reasonably urgent parcel, posted on the 11th, I have been keenly watching it's progress via tracking, on their website. It gradually went through the Package Info Received, Posted, Collected, at the Hub, etc., to the point where I was expecting it delivered today/tomorrow, except today..

The tracking is now showing 'Package Information Received'. How do they manage to get it so very wrong?

If it was urgent, don't ever use Evri. You'd find that the usual suspects are much more expensive if you go through a third party like Parcel2Go.

After saying that, I had an experience with UPS, who normally provide an excellent service. The driver claimed the address was incomplete, it wasn't and confirmed to be correct.

The driver who delivered it the next day apologised and both this driver and customer services said the driver must have been too busy and deliberately provided the excuse the address was wrong as that was the only option open to him if he had chosen not to deliver the package on his round.

In other words most carriers invite drivers to lie when they have no alternative excuse to submit when they choose not to deliver a package for whatever reason[1].

[1] One reason might be the limited driving hours in a day.

*are not*

Pretty sure that happened to me with Yodel, who never provide a good service anyway.

Awaiting three large parcels, and I suddenly got email saying they were unable to deliver as there was no reply.

I was working beside the front door and most certainly would have heard. CCTV confirmed that no one had been near. I called them, and they admitted that their GPS tracking showed the driver to be nowhere near when he logged the 'no reply'.

All they would do was 'speak to him'. This was Friday, and they would do nothing except reschedule for Monday.

On Monday, two parcels arrived. I queried this, and the driver mumbled something and headed for his van. And drove off.

I was eventually refunded for the missing parcel, and told the supplier I wasn't using them any more.

I ordered something on the 8th, I was given a TNT tracking number. On the 9th the tracking number appeared in their system. Ever since the tracking has shown waiting for collection at the retailers warehouse. I'm about to make my 4th phone number to the retailer who advertise a 24 or 48 hour delivery if the item is ordered before 3pm. The retailer claims it was sent, the tracking suggests not and as I have not had a delivery I guess possibly the package has been lost or stolen at the retailers premises.

Last week I received a Royal Mail 24hour tracked package which was in their system for 9 days, 7 of those days reported in their regional depot 30 miles away from my location.

Evri (Herpes) are cancer. Don't use them! I can't believe they are even in business.

The tracking number, is now showing two separate tracks on their site, for the very same package.

Evri's tracking clearly lies. I sent a parcel to someone via eBay; according to their tracker they had tried to deliver it something like three times. In actual fact is was lost at the hub. I eventually got a refund, after going through the hoops they clearly put in to deter people going through the process 'correctly'.

It often depends where you live. I've found Evri deliveries around my way very reliable. The same couple have been delivering to my location for a couple of years and I see them most days that I'm at home. There is a convenient spot opposite my house where they always park to deliver to a block of flats at the bottom of my road.

The most unreliable is Royal Mail closely followed by Parcel Farce.

Yes, as I often say in this sort of thread, local management and workforce are **much** more relevant than different 'brands'.

100% disagree. At least they put a card on your door that they were unable to deliver and they give you a way to collect it later on. Evri just lie unashamedly.

24hr tracked taking more than a week

Emails saying a tracked delivery will be delivered today and it turns up

2 or 3 days later.

Card through the door saying package too large for letter box and then on collecting the large item finding that is in fact 12 small items that would fit but only too large because they have been packed with a RM elastic band that the postman was too lazy, or stupid, to remove.

Local collection centre hours recently reduced to 4 hours a day (closed Sunday) so anyone with job is unlikely to be able to collect undelivered packages during the week.

Recently fined £5.6M for not being able to meet their delivery targets.

Agreed. Here, Evri are very good, I recognise the drivers, and they are reliable. The local Royal Mail guy is also good, but is often let down by the rst of the company.

Follow-up I never did get any promised call backs from my phone calls informing me about what has happened to my order but this morning at 9 am I did get a special delivery. On opening the (sealed) package I discovered that the order was incomplete. The missing item is listed on the enclosed packing list :(.
