Momentarily turn off the ignition, or at least, that's how it used to work. DAMHIKT!
These days, easy to do if you can alter the mapping with injection. You normally (near) cut off the fuelling on a trailing throttle. Re-map so that doesn't happen and you'll get lots of popping from the exhaust.
