Quality at Lidl and Aldi

I've had some excellent bratwurst from Aldi. The fresh vegetables seem fine too, although the selection in mine is often somewhat limited. A pity that I can't usually buy red cabbage to go with the bratwurst :-)

Alas, it's the way they're stored and managed. As a regular beer drinker in Scotland I was used to the fizzy crap served in most places until I ordered a pint in Diggers in Embra. There was no good reason that all the other pubs in Scotland couldn't have served a pint that was the equal of that one, but they just couldn't be arsed.

As above, it depends on the cellarman. Common or garden 80/- ale is transformed into something approaching nectar if it's handled properly, as anyone who drank in the Diggers of the 80s will tell you. The cellarman of the Diggers moved to Biggar and several of his regulars made frequent journeys to Biggar just to keep sampling his ales.

I've found that of the other five, four owners have already washed their dogs in them.
