OT: MPRN - postcode issue

Feb 20, 2025 Last reply: 1 year ago 3 Replies

After a postcode change it seems I can't locate the MPRN from the new or old address.

https://findmysupplier.energy/ Might be very nice but it expects me to pay a premium 0870 number. Last time I was phoned National Grid the conversation took 30 minutes of wait and resolution.

I presume this is a portal into the national MPRN database. Can anyone point me in the right direction of who owns this database and a normal number to contact them to update their database?

Can you contact your DNO? eg this is the contact for National Grid Electricity Distribution:

(NGED are DNO in the Midlands/SW/Wales, not to be confused with NG the national transmission network)

Presumably the DNO must have a way to edit the database, eg when they lay a supply to a new house they install a new meter and create an MPRN.

Ah, after further searching it seems the info is here for connection enquiries:

Many thanks for the reply. This is for a Gas MPRN number. MPAN numbers are associated with electricity.

As per my other post I managed to find an alternative source. However they were slopey shoulders and said it was up to my current supplier to make the update.

After contacting the current supplier they claim it takes 2-3 working days to update the Cadent Gas database but I'm not holding my breath!
