Control panel, then network connections Right click on the wifi adaptor connection and choose "properties" Double click the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" entry On the general tab of the dialog use the radio buttons to select the options to specify IP and DNS addresses.
Set the IP to a valid one for the network, and the DNS entry to match the address of the router (probably 192.168.0.1 for a virgin home hub).
OK your way out of the dialogs.

I don't see how you could have dome that you can only put a numeric address for DNS servers (or did you put that for DNS suffix? in which case don't).
It is stating connected with no error pop up but still not connecting.

What does the "support" tab show? and the "details..." dialog from there?
Your connection to the wifi network is good, but probably your addressing on that network is still not correct.
Are you sure the Virgin network isn?t down in your area? Ours went belly up today for a while.

At the risk of repeating myself, if it is a VM hub 3.0 it has the PAIR WPS button on the front that I referred to in my earlier post.
Press it and hold it in until you see a flashing indicator just above it. Release the button and wait for it to connect and set up the correct password in the netbook.
Also some routers can seem to lock things out for no apparent reason, I assume you have tried a router reboot. It would be interesting to know if smart phones or other wifi devices like Amazon smart speakers are connecting OK. Often this sort of thing can be due to interference on one way or the others comms, a channel is being used by a neighbour etc, so the signal quality may be so bad it cannot hear the return signals properly. Does it help if its really close to the router? Brian
You may of course be getting the xp is too old so we won't let it back on syndrome. I've seen this before, but since I use a piggy back router not the virgin internal one I get around it. Brian

I used the pair WPS button and now gone back to: Local area connection unplugged. and Validating identity
Done still no connection.
The internet as far as I am concerned. This end of computers I have not a clue I have never in 20 years had to connect one to the internet hence my issues I dont even understand the terminology, I am having to google it as I read these posts.
