I have a Garmin Nuvicam in my car which is attached to the windscreen with a sucker. On very hot and sunny days, the sucker dries out and the GPS falls into the car setting off the alarm.
Does anyone know of an alternative fluid that one can use to attach the sucker that would not dry out on hot glass?
No.
Its not the sucker helping fluid, its the weighed and that there is no such thing as a perfect seal. Air inside the sucker will expand as it heats and push a sucker off. I personally would not leave such things on show in a car nor in full sunlight when the car is parked unless you are testing it in readiness for space flight or something! Brian
You need those double sided stickers that are used to fit mirrors. I scrounged a few off a guy doing a windscreen replacement once. I think they will still bond to the "sucker" surface.
Back in the '70s my father used a Retrovisor when towing the caravan. It was attched to the car by suckers on the roof and the windscreen. It stayed on a lot better with a smear of gelatine instead of just wetting the suckers.
These days a silicone oil would probably do the job.

I already use that.
But in hot weather it would slowly slide down the screen and not fall off.
It also has to come off when it gets its MOT test.
I got a new suction mount from a Chinese eBay seller when the plastic of the old one hardened and failed to seal properly. Cost was silly cheap, quality seemed as good as the Garmin one.
