Any idea how to change the tap washer on this tap ?

It's not mine, I have been asked how to do it by someone else.

Nothing like any of mine which have a button in the center of the top of the handle which allows you to remove the cone shaped cover to put a spanner on the body of the tap itself.

Apparently the plumber that changed the washer last time had some difficulty with it but the tap owner can't remember how the plumber did it and doesn't want to pay another $150 again to film the plumber doing it again.

Rod, just tell them you don't know how to do it and point them here.

I did.

Makes no sense to setup usenet just for that.

Makes more sense to post what I did and relay any useful responce.

Perhaps the tap top stays in place and and the whole assembly unscrews. It doesn't look that if you get the cone off there is anything to put a spanner or wrench on to further dismantle

Perhaps its similar to:

The comments suggest circlip pliers may work rather than the special tool.

Thanks for that, that is clearly the same tap.

How did you find it ?

Problem with the end of the youtube tho, his is a shower tap.

Can't see that given the it would unscrew if you turn the tap completely anticlockwise.

There clearly is with the sink taps.

Doesn't look like it, there is clearly a lot more threaded stuff under the also cone shaped cover under his.

Yeah, but he doesn't have circlip pliers and is hundreds of miles from me.

Shower video - some O rings may also be required

The tool seems to be called "vandal proof tap spanner"
