Best buys at Lidl

Well, I personally only tend to use food the once.

You are demonstrating a lack of understanding. I decide what I want in terms of functionality, quality, ease of use, servicability and research what is available in the market. Then I look and touch for myself to confirm or otherwise. Finally I look at the price and whether I am willing to pay the price asked or negotiate a lower one for what I would like to buy.

In terms of what I said, there was really nothing that motivated me to return to one of these places in a hurry. The downsides mentioned more than negated any apparent cost saving, which would be marginal at best considering the travel time.

I suspect that said stores didn't even know. As long as the buy price and margin were OK, that's it.

Call me Mr Sceptic But why do I find that hard to believe. :-)

I don't hold any of the UK supermarkets in any form of esteem.

All of them sell far too much preprocessed, sugar laden crap.

At best, it's a case of the least bad of a bad bunch.

The main reason for that is that as a nation we buy on convenience and price.

This at least eliminates you from being canine or bovine..... :-)

I know what I bought and none of it impressed me in the least.

None of the supermarkets or for that matter, retail stores of any description in the UK impress me particularly. These places come near the bottom of my list.

I can imagine that it's easy if you just want to buy on price - pick the cheapest place and you're done.

I'm hard to please. Presumably others are easier to please or buy on different criteria.

Who else is selling decent shallots (French) at the moment ? The English ones have finished at my local greengrocer.

OTOH, why has their "three flavours" posh chocolate gone down to just two, losing the Madagascan that was the best of the lot ? 8-(

Where are the lovely old Polish "Krakus" brands these days? They used to make excellent jams, sauerkraut etc.

I wonder what you all think of Primark. Interesting prog about them on the tele just now. High quality, low prices. Simple really.

I saw that. I've bought stuff at Primark as well. Prices are very very low and the quality aint too bad either. The fashion industry have been fleecing people for years with their cobblers about how you're paying their premiums for quality - complete tosh.

Ate they like Matalan? They are cheap but not tat.
