I considered 0723 to be in octal. 0x1D3 is the same number expressed in hex (as C uses). $1D3 (hex) and %000111010011 (binary) are the representations used by the home computer I had in the eighties. The one that didn't get quoted is the Unicode character with this value.

Here are some others (as in the 8080 assembler I used in college):

456 723q 1D3h 000111010011b

Hex that starts with A-F needs a leading 0. Octal is 'q' since too many people confuse 'o' with a digit.

There's also 79A

Also I knew what it meant when I told my computer to "PRINT 4 OR 6" and it printed 7. BTW, the first program I wrote finds the square root of a number, starting by assuming it's 10.

I get the feeling you have a lot of intelligence which you use for absurd purposes.

The current temperature is 5.4 * 10^10 nanodegrees F.

They did when I was in school in the seventies. Not much for the more intelligent, though.

50% humidity is more comfortable 72=B0F at 90% humidity. I serviced and= installed HVAC systems back when I was doing service work for businesse= s. Humidity really doesn't bother me at all. What is it with your wimps?

Look up SI units and educate yourself.

Stop using silly acronyms.

Americans can't do decimals, they only learn math instead of maths.

I don't, I tell them to use proper measurements.

This is probably why nobody in the US is very clever.

I can. Maybe you forgot to add "most".

Maybe you forgot to read between the lines. I guess I shouldn't expect Americans to understand the finer points of English.

Hex is definitely more fun. I can use 0xDeadBeef and 0xCafeBabe to flag uninitialized integers.

Binary good. We use for debug flags.

My high school was structured that way. The business/shop kids took Spanish and typing; I took German and calculus. In the course of my life Spanish and typing would have been a lot more useful. After dcades of programming I still type with about 5 fingers and am completely screwed if the letters wear off the keys. I sometimes can understand German tourists in the National Parks, but not 65% of the California people.

Definitely. The high school I went to did an end run with a 'Enriched Curriculum' program. The smart kids didn't see much of the general population. The holidays were a bonus. Since about a third were Jewish plus some Jewish teachers between Hannukah and Christmas December was shot. Throw in Little Christmas for the Russian Orthodox and you could whittle a little bit of January away too.
