Shame on CBS !

I accept the story as it was reported. I haven't seen anything that would cause me to doubt anything about it. Let's run through it quickly.

Bubba Wallace's team discovered a noose hanging in their assigned garage so they reported it. That was exactly the right thing to do, given recent events such as Bubba Wallace taking the lead on asking NASCAR to ban all use of the Confederate flag and the many death threats that he received as a result. The noose is frequently used as a death threat to blacks. Good, so far?

Next, the FBI investigated and confirmed that it was indeed tied as a noose, but they determined that the noose had been there for quite awhile and therefore wasn't specifically targeted to Bubba Wallace. Whoever tied it wouldn't have known that Bubba Wallace would be assigned to that garage a number of months later. The media reported all of that, as it became available/known.

That should have been the end of it, but now there's some weird sick backlash against Bubba Wallace for reporting it in the first place. I don't get that part at all. He did exactly the right thing in reporting it, just as he did exactly the right thing in asking NASCAR to ban the use of the Confederate flag.

Bubba Wallace's team just got assigned to that garage. If you want to ask about what happened before that, you have to ask who else was assigned to that garage previously.

Oh, please.

Oh, no, not you, too. Lots of people tie up their garage door pull cords. Of those, how many tie a noose?? Is that the knot you chose, a noose? Of all the possible knots, you chose that one?

Correcting things that they get wrong is hardly a nasty habit.

Was there a false story? Certainly not reported anywhere that I've seen, but I don't watch ESPN.

Crazy white Britts have been hanging white people forever.

How did this get to be a racial hate crime?

I suppose Disney will have to pull that racist Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Was it a noose? I've seen no photos of it. People often interpret things the way they want.

Remember the kindergarten kid that pointed a finger and thumb and the police were called because he threatened with a gun?

Given the mentality of many people I trust what I see more than a news report.

I get that you're not black, but I don't understand how you're unaware of this country's history with blacks and nooses.

What does "go away" mean? You mean someone should have just taken it down and everyone continues on with their regular business? I hope you're not that ignorant, but I can't be sure.

And yet, they didn't. What does that tell you about the culture at NASCAR? How do the Confederate flags that were rampant until a few days ago help to shape your answer to that question?

I have to make a correction. It wasn't Bubba Wallace's team that discovered the noose, it was someone else. From there, it was reported to NASCAR officials and eventually the NASCAR President approached the Bubba Wallace team to alert them to the fact that their newly assigned garage had a noose hanging in it. The Wallace team hadn't yet moved in to that garage.

I did see a photo of it. Yes, it can be interpreted as a noose. obviously the intent was not there.

Why was that chosen? You have to ask the person making it. Chances are it was seen as humor, though given the situation, not a good choice in a public place.

That thing , whatever it acually looks like (no picture that I have seen) was left over from a year ago and Bubba was not even assigned to that. With all that was made other that and the flag, I hope NASCAR folds. I went to some races years ago but lost interist in it when they quit running cars from the dealers and went to the tublar chassis for all.

I am more of the run what you bring from the road type of person.

I feel safer around a bunch of rednecks at a NASCAR track than I do on the streets of Chicago where there were hundreds of black-on-black shootings last weekend.

What does that tell you about the culture of Chicago?

A noose never bothered me but seeing gang graffiti makes me realize I took the wrong exit off the expressway.

What kind of culture shoots a hundred of their brothers in a weekend?

If Bubba wants some attention, why doesn't he just win a race?

It is clear he did not ask anyone if that rope was tied up like that before he got there.

I would use a monkey fist but that might be insensitive too. Ask Roseanne.

If Wallace knew it was there long before he was, he should come to the same conclusion as the FBI did. There was no racial intent. I wonder if Danica Patrick was offended because some guys had pictures of scantily clad women in their bay? Would a Jewish driver get his knickers in a knot because there were christian symbols hanging around. I won't mention muslims because they are nuts too.

Getting things wrong all the time is a nasty habit too.

Much easier to claim that the noose was a deliberate slur.

Yes, almost as stupid as you.
