From the horses mouth....

Heard from Fein;

"It is true that Bosch have recently launched a version of an oscillating machine. The machine is designed for DIY applications and has limited power and very few accessories. The blades for the Bosch machine will fit the old style MultiMaster (MSxe) but will not fit the new style MultiMaster (FMM 250Q).

We have not entered into any kind of agreement on the manufacture of blades or accessories with Bosch, they have simply taken advantage of lapsed patents."

So now we know :-)

I've always considered my Multimaster a brilliant bit of kit, it can sort so many little problems with ease. But the price of the blades for it make me feel as if I'm supporting a hard drug habit. Being able to get blades at a reasonable price is great news. BTW

Thats why I never did buy a Fein. Bosch does the job for me.

Thanks for that, much cheaper. When I first bought my Bosch the only place that listed the machine was Argos & I had to reserve it & wait a few days. At that time only RAI listed the blades, seems they are spreading.

Interesting that Bosch went for an identically sized fitting - clearly hoping to take some market share for accessories.

So I can sell my old Fein at a massive premium!

How convenient.

So now we can have the benefit of the good quality of the Fein machine and a less expensive source for some of the commodity end blades.

In the meantime, Fein can sell their higher margin blades to Bosch users.

If they had any sense they would produce an adaptor for the Bosch to allow it to take the full range of fein blades.

(after all it was a strategy that worked well for Gillette)
