Newbie question about staining a drawer

x-no-archive:yes

I am making a knife drawer that has a removable cutting board o top of it. I have the stain picked out. Should I stain the inside of the drawer the same as the outside? At home my kitchen cabinets seem to just have clear on the inside. Is this the most acceptable practice? Should the inside of the compartment the drawer goes into be stained or clear?

I leave all my drawers natual in color. Staining typically darkens an already dark drawer and the drawer tends to stink like stain longer.

Very quickly over time, the repeated banging, scraping and abrasion of the utensils inside the drawer are going to visually damage the stain inside the drawer making it look worn. That same damage done to a clear finish is a lot less noticeable.
