This is NOT the same link I found yesterday, but close. IIRC the 20.9 was from 2017 or 2018 in the one I cited. This one is very close to that figure and shows the lag time to be increasing. I think the 20.9 was an average over all specialties. Oncology was around 4 weeks and orthopedic was almost 40 weeks. As in everything else YMMV depending upon what ails you and local availability of medical professionals.

If we're talking about the mask protecting MJE from you transmitting the virus, I don't buy the mask wearing. OTOH, I will go along with me wearing one to decrease the odds of me infecting you should I pick up the virus and be asymptomatic.

We can argue about one party or the other exerting control, but to say that's the impetus for mask wearing in the current climate is rather ignorant. How many times in the past, hundred plus years have you seen or heard of surgical procedures conducted by personnel who were not masked. They're not wearing the mask to protect themselves.

As for the comment somebody made about the folks driving alone in their cars wearing them. Yeah, about the only thing that is good for is a laugh.

If you ever saw me driving alone while wearing a mask, it wouldn?t be because of any attempt to protect myself. It would simply be that I forgot to take it off. I?ve also forgotten to put one on.

I under stand not being a carrier, internally, but the virus can live outside your body for an indefinite period of time. this is why we see disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer at most businesses and why the CDC still want all to wear masks.

So an infected person opens the hardware store door, just after he sneezes and covers his mouth and nose with his hand.

You grab that handle too as you open the door.

Then you scratch your face or rub your nose or worse yet, lick the chocolate off of your fingers. It being Spring, you have allergies and sneeze. An uninoculated person walks through the atomized sneeze zone and he becomes infected.

A stretch? Yeah but so was the world being paralyzed by this virus... S___ happens.

One can only surmise that those wearing masks, in their cars, have a very bad case of gas, stinky gas AAMOF. The mask is saturated with a deodorizer.

Think about THAT next time you see someone driving with a mask. ;~)

Hummm.. No doubt and that would normally be because the system that they are delivering to is better. Better equipped to pay for the drug, better equipped to receive and distribute the drug, maybe a better health system...

Surgical masks are cloth bandanas with the nose sticking out. They're used by trained staff. You don't see everyone washing their hands, like surgeons and not touching *anything* that isn't sterilized, either. It's all bogus and has been since the beginning.

No, it really is about who paid for it. The US (and UK) taxpayers paid for the development and production. They get the first whack at it. Canada and the EU could have forked over cash but *DECIDED* to wait and see. Ok, wait.

Amazing. I've never worn mine long enough to get anywhere near my car. It comes off the instant I leave the place the lawyers have told them that everyone has to comply. ...even though state law indemnifies them against suit.

Mid-winter, snow blowing, both hands full of the items I just bought. Mask on, keeps face warm in the parking lot. Not worth the trouble to take it off "the instant" I leave the store. It also doesn't bother me to leave it on. Shows that I'm a Bills fan. I hear lots of "Go Bills" on the way to my vehicle.

Not often, but on occasion, I get in the van and start driving. I don't think I've ever made it out of the parking lot with it on, but to answer the question asked, the answer is "Yes, I've forgotten to take it off".

I would imagine it also matters whether or not one feels it's worth the mental energy to think of it as being a sheep vs. thinking of it as "It can't hurt to wear a mask, so why not?"

I've got nothing against those that chose not to wear one. I don't call them names, I just let them be and wear my mask when required, and sometimes even when not.
