How Long can I wait to Mill logs?

Hi all,

Well it seems no one wants my cherry logs. Check it out at:

can sell them to a local mill for about $700 if I haul them. Or I can Mill them into 1" boards for about $500.

But can I wait till spring if I don't cut them up and leave the root ball on? I don't want to wait then find I wreaked the lot.

On closer inspection I should get over 1,800 bd ft of milled and dimensioned lumber. How much should I expect to get for air dried wild cherry 6 -13" wide, full

1" thick in 8' lengths? Is there a local market?

SWMBO and I are currently debating what to do. I'm leaning toward mill, sticker, air dry, trim and sell dimensioned lumber. She wants me to sell the logs to someone who can just come haul them away.

Since I can hire a self loader to haul the logs to the local mill for $150 ($700-$150=$550 in pocket) I would need at least $550 if we decide to sell the logs.

Lets refine your offer via EMail. Can you cut to length and load if I drag them up to the road? What time frame are you thinking? $550 or better?
