I'm not defending Acosta's *behavior* in any manner, but reporters from all sides - friend and foe - were asking questions unrelated to the election. His tax-returns, the Russian probe, immigration, etc.

Yes, the opening remarks were about the election, but the questions ranged far and wide from many other reporters, not just those trying to trip Trump up. Trump had no issue with answering non-election related questions, nor should he have.

Acosta was absolutely being an a-hole, but it wasn't because of the subject matter of his questions, it was his method.

However, these are the times when some actual progress can be made.

They all want to look good two years from now, and by passing some non-partisan stuff like infrastructure bills, the ones "in the middle" can look good to their constituents come reelection time.

They know the only way to get anything passed is for it to be what both sides want and what the POTUS will sign.

I don't recall any one being as bull headed as Acosta. Off topic is OK but he made an ass of himself and refused to give up the mic on several attempts so that others could speak. And he kept digging like he had a hearing problem or a short attention span. He was looking for a fight and he got his ass in a jam.

I'm not sure he had a method. If he did it certainly was not working. Trump is a negotiator and the PIA press is so inept they think that Trump is being mean, so those "like" Acosta walk into the press room with a chip on their shoulders.

My on ly point was that you included the words "totally off topic" in your comments about him as if that was something else that he did wrong. His being "off- topic" had nothing to do with him being an a-hole. Many others asked questi ons that were "totally off topic" so that shouldn't be included as if it was pa rt of the (his) problem.

h. The vote was based on two things, promises, that have been made before and not kept and an aversion to Trump. What was forgotten is what has prod uced the economy we have today. Instead they opted to return to the polici es that led to eight years of almost no growth.

Seems most reporters just want to be on camera asking questions no matter how many times a person says "no comment" and just ignores them. Politicians, criminals, celebrities, makes no difference the reporter wants to be the star. They ask the same question in three different formats while they smile at the camera and inflate their ego.

I think you are correct on that count. And easily swayed by the media.

That seems to have gone by the wayside in recent years. Seems both sides are getting extreme and digging in hard rather than consider compromise for the good of the people.

Also should explain that the one in control is the one calling the conference, not the rank and file press members.
