There are times when as an IT consultant one feels impelled to answer the question of 'what sort of IT system do I need?' with 'have you thought about a notebook and a biro?'
I simply do not understand this obsession with complexity for its own sake. Are they all suffering from small penises or something?
A friend in the village has one of those talking stupidBoxes - Alexa or Siri or something and he said 'well when we look like running out of coffee I tell it, and when I go shopping it emails me a list'..
..I just write it down on a pad of paper kept in the kitchen and tear the page off...
As far as whatsapp goes I put the phone on line and then use that on this desktop via the web interface.
Apart from whatsapp and skype, the app I use on the smartphone is tomtom Go.
Once it has stop responding to accidental touches that send it into menus I never want to see again, or fails to respond to attempts to access menus that I do, its a massively good piece of software, spoilt only by the necessity of having a touch screen.
I tried zoom yesterday for a global 'family meeting'. God it was awful
