My local window cleaner who does the town centre shops has his gear tucked away in the boot of his car,
I am wondering what solution these window cleaners use? is it just washing up liquid?

No dirty water in some cases. ;-)
Vinegar and a touch of washy liquid to give it a soapy consistancy.
