Treating Hardwood Windows

Hi all

Its that time for treating my hardwood windows. Over the last few years I have always used ronseal quick drying stain but have found on the side of my house that gets the most weather I need to retreat every year or I get peeling. I am going to change this time and use a different product. does anybody make a better stain for hardwood windows. Also when I have had stain peeling off I have sanded back to bare wood and also smoothed timber with fine sand paper. Am I better leaving a rougher surface for stain to key to or still sand smooth.

Cheers

Tony

Sikkens HLS/Sikkens Filter7 - expensive - the best. Specialist trade paint shops only - you won't find it in the sheds.

My Parents lived in a cedar-wood bungalow in Cornwall. They used a product from Sikkens

which they reckoned to be expensive, but much longer-lasting than anything that you could buy in a DIY Shed.

Hope this helps Adrian
